oh fem, was that you who i was talking to at the lights of blackburn and wellington?

it was the first meet that i could make, and i only managed to make it to the carpark at 9:40pm, but there was 1 nice looking stagea, and the 32 there, maybe 1 or 2 more guys, a copper and a bike copper.

I drove in the wellington entrance, got the eye from a silver? marked cop car went to the car park, scrapped the crap outta my front bumper as i was too busy looking at the cops and guys in the car park, decided best not go in, and waited around a bit outside the carpark to see what was happening. Decided probably best not to tempt fate and drive in (i'm 99% sure my car is fine, but you just never know what they might decide to get you for) and had a quick chat to the 32 owner at the lights down the road.

Then tried deakin car park, no luck, met another dude, Evo owner at the exit, he too was looking for you guys and had no luck. I forgot i can't get out of the deakin top exit, too farken steep, so i had to back up and go back the way i came

EDIT: i found you guys eventually, but i won't say where, just realised as i was typing it all out, prob best not to mention specifics. Looked like you were having fun eating duck

The TMU gets assigned places to patrol yeah? So someone higher up has said, someone check the Monash carpark?

These meets would have to be THE MOST unhooning type events and this shit happens.

And the police wonder why there is an "us and them" attitude... EDIT

sorry to hear about that guys. cops seem very different on the other side of melbourne. on my side they tend to pick on cars that dont look road worthy and are old. ive ssen them pull over a highly modified r34 and didnt do anything, they looked at it and just left and he never got a letter in the mail.

maybe we should get hot 4's or fast fours involved as well to help us out as they are already in the media and do a write up and might have some good connections to help us out.

Yeah it is true....

The system will have to be ratified by the committee you all do realise this as they need to make sure it doesn't go against the club charter.

These meets are in no way affiliated with SAU-Vic. Everyone needs to remember that the forum and the club are 2 completely separate things.

I agree - nothing to do with sau vic

what you do in your own time is your choice - and keep the cop slander away, theres no need for it

they are doing their job, look up the term "police" and youll understand the meaning of their role

Wasn't the best night last night, but from what I saw, quite a few cars turned up. 3 being police cars.

I didn't get a chance to say this last night so I'll say it now, Nick and Kris, enjoy your couple of months of driving free and bad luck to femno for getting defected. That just sucked, we were doing NOTHING compared to those on Princes Hwy.

All this tyre rubbing for nothing.

Sorry to hear it guys, kinda glad i didnt show. The SSQV would have given me away a mile off.

Sucks to hear that femno. And for all non club members, the meets that are properly arranged by the club dont have these issues. Cops literally passed us by on one of the more recent cruises and didn't do anything despite a number of us with lightly and heavily modified cars. The club affiliation actually is a benefit.

Its worth signing up.

i agree, good on them.

if you organise a meet full of illegal cars on a public internet forum, why wouldnt they rock up.

LoL thats a bit harsh. Im sure most people's cars on here have something illegal about them and ts not just skylines, its all cars on the road. Simple things such as bald tyres, loud exhausts, large aftermarket rims ect..are all considered illegal.

These guys wernt there to cause trouble, but to innocently socialise. So unfair of u to imply they deserved it coz their cars are 'illegal'??

official event or not.... are you saying waiting for close to hour for people to move is using threre time and money efficiatly.. sorry but thats f**king bull shit from both moderators and club executive.... . and how you can justify it bothers me....im sorry soemone had to say it

what is happening with this place....

everyone who was there knew what the cops were doing was BS.......thats all that matters

it will not happen again though

I am appauld that posts outlining our disappointment and distain at the Police conduct at this meet where removed. I was hoping they would read it and realise that we as a community where extremely dissatified with there time wasting. I for one would like to see my tax dollars spent on something more constructive like the WRX that tears up and down my street at 1:00am in the morning.

Responding to a Robbery in under 48 hours in my home etc....

If this club in the forums are going to censor our opinions then how are we going to get over such frustration and try and find a workable solution for the community, not only club members.

And for the record in the next meet if anyone of you guys get done don't expect any support from us as we know most of the vehicles in this club are not legally modified, and your attitude of it isn't me so I don't give a rats arse is showing how hypacritical you are.

I'm with you on that one! +1

Why would your post be deleted?

Can you show me the club executive that said it was a good use of police resources?

So far I think I'm the only commitee member to have posted and I clearly didn't say that

I simply stated that this meet had nothing to do with the club, which people don't seem to realise essentially has no affiliation with the forums other than being based on them.

Also implying that becoming a club member somehow makes you immune to police attention is far fetched. To date there hasn't really been any issues with police on official club cruises, but up until last night there really hasn't been a problem with these general meets either.

And for the next person that says they should be spending time on robberies and homicides, do some research into what the Traffic Management Unit's job description entails.

I was at the meet, and could have easily have been defected myself. Its unfortunate that someone was defected, and its a shame that it happened when people were just casually parking and socializing, but at the end of the day if the car is illegally modified, and an officer wants to hand out a defect, then there's not a lot you can do but cop it and get it cleared.

i am in no way defending that the car was defectable or not. i took your first post as if you were implying that because it was not an official event we should expect the police the intimidate and waste time at these type of events. poeple take things deffirenantly as you did have to explain you self further on a few points, regarding few differant posts as just done....

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
