i was wondering if anyone could tell me how can i minimise this. only happens when im climbing hills at low revs.

alsogoing in for a dyno soon i was wondering is there a big difference between using z32 AFM compared to standard, is it just easier to tune using z32 or

do you get more power from it?

when you say chuffing? do you mean compressor surge? turbo may be too small for the motor. if you have an electronic boost controller, you may be able to bring the boost on later.

as for AFM's, its tuning resolution, air goes through the AFM, and voltage increases with more air going through, problem with the stock one is it reaches max voltage with not alot of air going through it, so when you start moving more air (with a GT30) the ECU wont know because the AFM tops out too early. clear as mud?

i had compressor surge with a highflow turbo i had, and it would only surge when coming underload (* going up hills, just comin onto boost)

i found out that the wheels (wheels were from an isuzu truck) that were in the turbo were way too big for it, and was pushing air back through the afm, or something to that effect.

i have a gt30r, and only issue i had with it was idle cause the air coming from it was affecting afm, so the afm was just moved further away from the turbo and is now fine.

i think the hks cast low mount manifolds with balance pipe would eliminate it

Balance pipe for a GTR, no balance pipe for a Gtst.

I opted for the 100mm intake with the reversion flutes for my GT3076 aka Gt30r, just in case, to be sure, to be sure [and I have the Hks cast low mount and hi temp coated + extrude honed]. I have nil problems with it, but I am running with Tomei 256/8.5's so it will be just a bit different to std there as well.

You'll need a Z32 with the Gt30r, std will not give enough.

lol a GT30R frame being too small for the motor, what a load of rubbish. It has nothing to do with that at all.

R33747 - When you say you don’t have a Z32 on there now, what is the state of the tune?

Fact you don’t have a Z32 makes me think your running a half-done setup as a GT30 is going to give you 270rwkw+…

A stocker AFM wont even come close

Now, the below is assuming you've setup the car and tuned it correctly etc, which I don’t think you have.

The GT30R is most likely the 600hp variant most likely...

They have a compressor wheel that’s classed as oversize... so at low RPM its going to surge, mine did just a little around 2000rpm.

Not a lot you can do unless you wanna start playing around with things.

The easiest way is to get the smaller 500hp wheel in the front, fixes all the problems and the car will be more responsive and virtually make the same peak power.

i had Z32 AFM on the car when i had the power fc but when i got an EPA i put the stock ecu back in but the car wouldnt run properly with the Z32. i was just wondering if i could get away with it ( running stock AFM ) because its a hassle changing it. Also what kind of boost would you consider as safe when going for a dyno tune. Ive blown 1 motor and i dont wat to did it again.. I was thinking around 1 Bar. What are peoples thoughts thanks or experiences?

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
