Just thought this might be useful. I replaced mine today after refering to the video courtesy of G35driver.com

They are not as straightforward a replacement as my 34 but nevertheless...pretty easy once u get the hang of it.

Cabin filter replacement which I haven't attempted yet

Mods feel free to sticky this under the hot topics thread.

Where is the best place to get a new filter and what type?

John

Am doing my cabin filter this week. I bought an ex smokers car and am trying to rid the interior of the smell. They are $115 +tax from Nissan Aust but only about $50 AUD from USA if you have them post it to you. My filter was absolutely black and the local Nissan parts manager suggested that I have a go at cleaning it first. Soak over night in dishwasher liquid, rinse and then dry. I have tried ordinary dish detergent and then my air compressor air duster with very good improvements in both air flow rate and smell. Nissan dealer reckons we do not get the huge pollen loads that they get in japan and so the filters are not vital to most Aussie environments.

I think I will just have a second go at cleaning the old filter instead of getting a new one. If however you want the details of the USA parts they are obtainable from both riversideinfinity.com (look up g35 as the lh drive equivalent of our v35) or autospareswarehouse.com

Cheers Graeme

ahhh $115 ex tax from nissan?? what nissan did you go to?

i got one for $45 (or $55) from nissan randwick.

I have been quoted $60 for the in cabin filter from Nissan Gosford and $166 for the new transponder key. Thanks Tom for the pin code - it was exactly the same as the one I got from Nissan Japan.

Thats a great price for filter and key. Just to let you know had a second go at cleaning mine this morning. Decided that as it took dishwasher deterrgent and water and compressed air with no problems why not try ind strength degreaser. So I hit it with CT-14 rinsed it off after about 1 minute and air compressor dried. Perfect result looks like new and absolutely no damage observable and completely unclogged to the naked eye.

CT-14, what is that?

Thanks for that, I read that..

What I was asking, was things like who makes it, where do you get it, is it expensive. Is it a spray...

CT-14 is just a good quality degreaser. Comes in plastic bottles 1litre and up. You can use it full strength or dilute with water. I mix it 50:50 for most work and hand spray from a refillable bottle. Not the cheapest on the market but one of the strongest around. Obtainable from Supercheap Repco Autobahn etc.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
