Ok so i've done a BIT of searching, maybe not as much as i should have, but from what i've seen, nothing all that much comes up when it comes to Trust's turbo range. All i read about is HKS and Garrett most of the time...

Now when it comes to HKS, i hear and read a lot about the GT-RS. But is there anything really wrong with Trust's TZ series? Yeah ok, so Trust are only oil cooled and plain bearing...but if you can get 20% off from autobarn when they have their sales, would the savings be enough to compensate? Or would you still just go for the GT-RS?

Thoughts and opinions appreciated!

For what its worth I'd prefer the Trust TZs over a pair of GT-RSs

He's talking single application, RB25.

To run pairs you need stroker love for the GT-RS

Doh my bad! In that case the closest I know of is a dude who had an R33 GTS25t running a Trust TD05-18G bolt on turbo for an R33, it looked a little laggier than a stock turbo but the car was making around 260rwkw. Seemed similar to a GT-RS, maybe a little less flowing.

i think he means GTR??? T517z is far more responsive than GTRS they are really no comparable as the GTRS is a bigger turbo. ive had 2 rb26 with t517z's on them and they got similar results to the garret 2860's.

What about T518Z?

Or was he talking about T517's or something?

Such ambiguity :D

Haha oopz, sorry, my bad, should have made things a little clearer for you all

I actually WAS talking about single application for RB25...t517z. Do they not make single application with this turbo? I was under the impression that they did, if i remember correctly what i was told when inquiring somewhere.

Does lithium's comment sound accurate? Would the TD05H-18G be the closest competitor to HKS' GT-RS?

Does being plain bearing and only oil cooled be enough to sway you from using Trust on a daily driven street car with maybe the occasional track day?

TD05 18G slightly smaller,

anything bigger than that in Trust is going to be in a high mount application.

TD06-25G / T67 would be similar, T67 8cm is hella responsive on an RB25 (Trust make these for SR20), but you will be going external gate and high mount.

T517 single on RB25 is not going to cut the cheese im afraid.

Becides the T25 flange, its going to run out of puff too quickly if you want to compare it to a GT-RS.

a 10cm T517 might get you there, but again different flange :D

If high mount is not a problem, perhaps look up the scale into the TD range from Trust.

If you want to keep it low mount, theres GT-RS or perhaps do some dealings and see if you can get a larger rear housing for TD05-18G? (not sure if this is a possible option)

There is also the TD06Sh 20G with 14cm internal gate (something I've never seen from trust) Their largest internally gated turbo.

I would call a T67 more in the GT3037 or bigger territory myself, much bigger than a GT-RS - even the smaller housing ones. A TD06-20G I'd compare with a HKS GT2835 or Garrett GT3071R. I have seen an internally gated T3 flanged TD06 once off a Skyline which was imported from Japan though it didn't come with any real details.

Yup, that why I mentioned it with a 25g :D

They are easily as responsive as a 3037 (3076 et al) and have more top end.

There are a couple of off the shelf TD06's internally gated, the only one I have seen infront of me was a butchered RB housings with the guts of the TD in them.

Thanks heaps, everyone, for all your input...definately given me heaps to think about...

i'm pretty certain that i'll be sticking to a low mount...hence trying to find Trusts closest competitor to the GT-RS seeing as though i hear so much about it...but like i said...if Trust can be bought for cheaper and still perform just as well...i don't see why not just go for trust! :D

Either Trust or HKS will be a good package that you can bolt on yourself and nothing else needed to be purchased.

As much as I like trust turbo's if you want to stay low mount and you are chasing that sort of power a bolt on GT-RS is hard to say no to.
