I noticed my heart was racing while watching it.... hoping nothing bad would happen.... but knowing it would.

Your wipers still worked! You can salvage those!

Thanking our lucky stars the embankment was there - would not have been much fun heading off into the trees.

No sticker on it as far as I noticed. The cage doesn't have a scratch on it - have asked Meridian their thoughts on salvaging bits of it.

Unfortunately my do it once, do it properly philosophy seems to apply to crashing as well! Will get some other opinions but things look to have shifted too much for a repair. I don't want to risk ending up with a compromised result. Would be looking for a no accident, high km full car, maybe import one as race/rally and sell off the bits I don't need.

The front left suspension tower has shifted down a fair bit after taking the initial impact. You can see the bend in the strut brace and ABS lines. Engine seems to have escaped unscathed minus the little fire that only looks to have taken out some wiring next to the turbos, no interference with the fan / balancer area. The radiator might even be ok.

Roof is buckled above drivers seat, through to the windscreen frame.

Rear left quarter has also dropped and the wheel is shoved backwards so the subframe is probably a mess as well.

One weird thing, can't see it here, but the passenger side floor checker plate is folded right over where it runs next to the transmission tunnel . . . transmission tunnel looks ok though - interested to see what the hell happened to cause that.

Your crash is very similar to how I crashed in Arrowsmith 08 (was even a R5>3), I was just lucky I fell into a ditch at slower speed, and didn't get any style points for a triple pyke.

You would be surprised how well they fix. Dad's R33 has had 4 big hits in the front left (3 by us, 1 by Glenny). We replaced the left front tower after our first hit, cause Glenny had a rushed job to fix it when he crashed, and it was no good after a second hit. The 3rd and 4th hits were fixed on a chassis aligner.

Well yeah could be a repair job and a front cut as Woo suggests. The metal guy we used on my 32 shell is a wizard - no doubt he would be able to get it straight again just depends on dollars. Once I get it back in Melbourne and up on stands I can get him to have a look.

Seems a good opportunity to pee-off(!) :rolleyes: those seats and get something a little better.....if somewhat inconvenient on transports. Teensie-tiny in-car suggests no HNR, going by the head movements....been there, done that, have the impressive array of X-rays!!!!

God I watched that video with my heart in my mouth mate. So glad you guys are ok after what could have been SOOO much worse. The cage did an incredible job, worth every cent methinks. Sad to see my old car looking so hard done by, but it's only sheet metal!

Yes certainly worth every cent - Andrew will definitely be building my next cage. Will give you a yell when the dust settles about possible shell options.

Sad to see Paul, but glad the car held up well and is a testiment to both chassis strength and the quality of the cage. Shows how quickly it can all go wrong!

Hope you can get it all sorted and back to full health ASAP.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
