yeah that makes a big difference. i have a lock out on my forks which i leave on most of the time since i only really ride on road. i unlock it just after the hill from the house cause most of the rest of the way is either flat or down hill. going home is mostly up hill so i lock it out

i love the fact that my lockout is just located on my bars...

it is just soooo freaking convenient to just lock on when hauling ass on road but then like just before hitting a bump / launching onto footpath / doing a skiddy / impressing a girl i just unlock it and away i go

bitches love it.

ps

may be getitng a cruiser project this weekend for shits n gigs. again - i know it's gonna be a useless bike but it'll look wicked

clearly i have a problem with wanting a useless bike that just looks nice. so i may as well get it out of my system

the bike is a vintage and it's $150 - you reckon this is too much costings?

if you like it, and it all works good then $150 isn't too much.

and yeah, remote lock out is teh shizzle. i don't have that unfortunately. my bike is a 2007 model and the cheapest bike in the range with remote lock out back then was $1100rrp, mine was $700rrp (but i got it when it was on special so even with gst and freight it was less than normal wholesale). i got it because it only has v-brakes and not disc. but it is running a full deore groupset (gears, brakes, hubs) and then i put skinny tyres on it and my carbon fibre aero seat post on it, LOL.

need a new bike but u guys know where in sydney i can get a good bike for? budget its up to $1k and dont mind if its from somewhere not too local but really want to have a feel of the bike's brakes and suspension. hit me with a PM if u can, would be much appreciated

Marc is your boy mang, shoot him a Pm.

Marc, teh brakes, when will they arrive cheif?

ok, lets try this again (internet explorer just closed itself and i was nearly done explaining)

shoes are about $200. most bikes come with clip pedals.

i would recommend the apollo giro c. goes for about $3000. can't remember the exact amount and am home so can't look it up. it runs 105 10 speed with is just dura ace from about 3 years ago. personally i would spend any money on a more expensive goup set because you won't get any better performance (other than it weighing a few grams less). all you really get for the extra money is the wank factor that you can tell people you have that model gears. this would be my pic of the bunch. i was actually thinking of buying one for myself. or one of the alloy frame models. the computer keeps chucking the shits so i can't get the spec on which model but will do it on tuesday.

if you go into a bike shop and they try to tell you apollo isn't good, ignore them. all the gears etc are going to be indentical to any cannondale or giant, etc running the same groupset. everything is brand name on road bikes so you look at what you get for your money.

i know high end bike shops that buy apollo road bikes to strip all the parts off and stick onto other brand frames to sell.

got maxxis xenith slicks today (sorry marc - too many flatspots from skidding while avoiding being hit by cars!!!)

AND

a planet bike "blaze" headlight 1watt - WOW what a difference!!! FINALLY i have a light that i can actually SEE stuff with at night

AND

a new brake rotor, for some reason my other one randomly warped

so

after i cooled off over the fact i just spent so much money - i went for a 56km bike ride

1 hour and 30ish

at first i was iffy about going "full slick" but these tyres are made of a sticky compound and i am VERY impressed with the maxxis tyres - they're SO fast and there's literally NO resistance!!! they make SUCH a big difference... only complaint? is that it makes lean steering a bit harder cos there's no tread on the side of the tyre, so it doesn't "bite" but aside from that they're great!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i do love bikes :D

oh

also took a giant CRX-1 for a ride today - that bike is scarilly fast - like.... i've never ridden something that accelerates the way it does, and no matter how i tried i couldn't get it's top speed

AMAZING!

about to take 1 of these for a test ride http://www.apollobikes.com/bikes09/id/6/ci...09/title/Enduro

just built it up. have to make sure everything works properly.........

funny how it's only expensive bikes i take for pre-sale rides, LOL

yeah. used to be under a different brand to please the snobby brand orientated people. but then about 2 years ago they decided to put it under the apollo banner to lift the profile of apollo. so now it is the apollo raceline series. i think it used to be raceline by apollo. basically all that has changed is the stickers, LOL. they are still spec'd by the same people.

    • Yeah pretty impressive hey, good to see quality products not over-shooting their prices. That's what drew me to buy the hypergear turbo, just a shame I've never got the chance to see it in action
    • Thank you GTSBoy and MBS206 I have done the compression test with the motor out of the vehicle, reason for the test was to see if I needed to remove the head and do rings etc while its out. I'm in the process of respraying the vehicle and tidying up a few things. Story behind it all is I've just purchased the skyline and it was running when I got it, never drove it on the street though as I wanted to pull it down and do it all up again before registering it. the gentleman I purchased it from told me the motor has a forged bottom end and has a decent tune through it but I was going to pull the sump off anyway to see if it is a forged bottom end. that's why I thought id do a compression test beforehand.
    • Man, I'm kind of amazed that the price of the turbo has not changed in 7 years. Everything else is inflating beyond reason, but not this? Good on Tao / hypergear I guess? Anyways, good luck with the sale!
    • I'm selling my brand new, in the box, never used Hypergear ATR45 - and I had some additions I paid for a few yrs back when I purchased it. Never ended up having the rest of the money to add all the mods at once, so I just ended up slowly selling each part. I originally had it internally gated, with the dump pipe, however I found it was incompatible with what I was going to use it for, so I contacted (I think Ken) from Hypergear, and he and I messaged back and forth & he got me to ship the turbo back, where they modified it & made it externally gated, and gave me the 5 bolt dump pipe attachment for custom welding. (Photos below) This turbo like I said has never touched the inside of an engine bay, it's completely brand new, never used, been sitting in the same box it arrived in, covered in plastic & all. Below are the photos of it: And while the guys at Hypergear were making it in-shop, they sent me some photos of the process: I'm looking at selling this just because I'm in need of the money right now, and don't have plans on modifying the 34 anytime soon - and from reviews & peformance sheets, this turbo had amazing results back when I was researching. The turbo was purchased in 2018 for $1.9k, with the mods I got added on. Looking at the website now, for the same turbo they sell (ATR45SAT), with the current addons it adds up to $1830 for the turbo Current addons included: - Bolted dump adaptor - Ball bearing CHRA - Braided oil feeding line So I'm looking to possibly sell it for around $1800, with shipping included in that 1.8k, It cost me around $120 to ship - so yeah thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone was interested in purchasing. Cheers!
