i keep saying 'weekly' but its usually fortnightly. i blame it on the winter weather tho. longest stretch without washing would have to be 8 weeks. but i try and give it a clean for cruises and/or any other car related stuffs. when i have a lot of time on my hands and i can be bothered i'll try and wax too. :(

I used to wash my car once, twice a week. That is until the water restriction came in. Now about once every 2 week.

My car is Black and every little spec of dust and water spec can be seen. The funny thing is my outside is damn clean but my inside is pretty messy hehe.

My car is Black.  It's always dirty.

Yes - mine too!

Although people say it looks clean so I dont bother washing it that often :D about once a month or maybe every few weeks - during winter / wet weather anyway.

Mine is black... well was... its now midnight blue most of the time... anyway its a real prick to keep clean. Latley I havent been washing it coz I got sick of putting in the effort to make it sparkle only to wake up the next day and find rain coming down in buckets.

Black looks awesome after good bath. Shame it only lasts a few days :P

pushead, you obviously havent see mine around.

ive had it around 4.5 months now and its only been lightly hosed down once. i dont think i even cleaned it when it arrived.

so its got crap from japan (sat at docks for two weeks), ship, docks here, then in my open carport for two months waiting for compliance, then quick wash, then drive till now without a wash.

actually its really dirty right now cause i went for a drive on sun night and started seriously wearing through my clutch :P

Once a week, first thing on Saturday morning down to the local car detailers for a wash, then I am good for cruising on the weekend. :P

Come Friday night though the car does look a little dirty :P

If I had the time I would clean it everyday.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
