Ok the reason I'm not putting this in the events section is because it's not a real event yet basically I just wanted to gather some input to see what other people want before I decide to make it an actual event, basically I'm thinking of setting up a paintball game and I wanted to see how many people here were interested in joining? If your new to paintball here's a quick run down...

Does it hurt?

Yes and No, Yes it does hurt most people you but i largely depends on the field, where you get shot, distance, and clothing. It depends on the field because different fields have different ratings (Based on my experience in the US not sure of AUS standards) More family oriented fields lower the velocity of the balls to accommodate for younger or more "delicate" players, while more serious fields have higher velocity, better breakage (explained later), and to achieve greater distance. Where you get shot also depends largely on the amount of pain you will experience, legs tend to hurt less due to the fact that your clothing will be thicker, if you wear the pants they provide you over your jeans there is a possibility you wont even know you've been hit, arms tend to hurt more cause their is less protection and are more sensitive, ironically it hurts the least when you get hit on the mask, it absorbs almost all the impact of the shot delivering minimal pain although if you get hit in the goggles you'll be blinded until you rub the paint off. Pain contributes to the game, seriously, if it didn't hurt you wouldn't have as near of an adrenalin rush and it gives the game a small sense of realism, by the end of it you would have so much fun you would almost forget, until you go home and find a bruise and flame me on this thread :spank:

Is it expensive?

Yes, and not so much yes, if you are a trigger happy or you resort to "blind shooting (Explained Later)" then yes you can look at $100+ range if your more conservative and regulate your shooting then you can greatly reduce the amount of ammunition you use

How does it work?

There are several versions of the game most commonly played is Team elimination where two teams go head to head and first team to eliminate the send wins, common fields include speedball formatted fields which is basically a flat surface with inflated obstacles (bunkers) and woodsball which is playing in basically same game but in a forest sometimes fields like to create fake towns with miniature houses.

COOL DOES THIS MEAN I CAN GET A FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPON AND MOW DOWN SOME NOOBS?

....no....APPARENTLY Australian law specifically states that fully automatic weapons are illegal (Thank you customs, you suck) while even owning a semi-auto requires a firearms license which requires you to be a citizen which the firearms license application doesn't tell you until the very last page of like a bigillion pages (in Queensland anyway), most commonly used gun in the world is the 98 Custom by Tippman and you can bet your dollar that almost any field carries this gun as standard, they are very good guns, reliable, durable, and fairly accurate so don't feel like your getting some second rate gun.

*Most fields use the breakage rule unless the ball breaks on you your not out

*Most new players love to duck behind a wall point their guns over and shoot this is known as blind shooting due to the fact the ball curves out of the gun instead of traveling in an anticipated straight line there is a good chance they are not going to hit anyone

As you can see I love my paintball and I would love to play against or with fellow SAU members I thought it would be fun too dominate other car clubs as well

I havent played in awhile so please excuse if my information is a bit rusty

If you have any questions feel free to ask, please show your interest below, also write if there are specific clubs or teams you want to vs.

played today with the club. got shot hardcore in the leg.... still awesome fun! comon guys! anyone that has not been paintballing before needs to at least try it. i love it so much I got my license and then bought my own marker (gun) bring it on i say!

Awesome what gun might I ask? And what type of PB do you play?

How many are you planning to round up for a game? I got a few mates who are really keen on on paintball, however we are usually not enough to make a team due to us all not being available at once...

im running an etek with a zick kit and a cure2 bolt. Vlocity Jnr hopper with a Virtue chip. I'm with PPC which mainly plays out of Carrum so i play speedball mostly but im more of a fan of bushball due to being able to set ambushes, use more tactics etc. Phonix is located up in Rawson which is around 20 to 30 mins north of Moe. Thats the best field I've ever seen.

There is a tyre speedball field at Carrum which will be moved around very shortly to be more playable. theres also a big chunk of bush out the back that the guys down there are looking at getting a few bush games happening in.

I suspect you mean "Think you're better than me" - and I certainly am, grammatically!

hahah no not grammatically, just a better keyboardist and not as lazy, I noticed those errors but didn't know how to edit a thread name

Dunno really hoping around 20-40 depending on who were vs.ing and the field

Dude sweet, haha virtue chip planning some full on carnage are we? Where did you get you equipment from? Yea woodsball is the game for me use to be pretty on in the states although I usually played forward position so I was out pretty quick, damn backers get all the credit, haha but we had a good team there it was a lot of fun, I really want to get a Tippman A-5 here but proving...difficult should join you guys for a game sometime

If its Ballan or Coldstream (the field) then im in, otherwise not really interested in any other fields as i dont rate them.

I haven't been to Carrum etc but i prefer the bush and scrub (as i dont wear armour, more tactics etc)

Used to play 4-5 times a year for a few years etc etc.

ill wait till you guys do the kiddie ones with "slower vilocity" balls...ha.

do we get to keep our unused paintballs at the end of the day?

No. Paintballs is where the fields make the money

Ash he's asking if you can keep paintballs that you haven't used at the end of the game

I don't know about here but in my experience the fields let you keep the balls you haven't used, letting you used them again is another story, some fields will sign and stamp a card saying you bought the paint from them and will let you use them next time although most of the time they will inspect the balls if it's suitable for playing (weakened, old, re shot balls break within the gun barrel and clogg it) No field i have ever gone to (Becuase of what Nismoid said) has ever let you bring your own balls (except for the one who sponosred us but we used our own gear) because you have to pay for the balls before you use them I would think it would be illegal for them not to let you keep them no?

last time i went paintball we had over 1000 paintballs were bought online and snuck them in

we had a blast cause we went nuts shooting everyone :P

Hahah normally I would think that wasn't cool since I'm a big fan of fields (some of my good freinds were owners) but after seeing your prices holy crap man! WTF major ripoff! Why are they so expensive here? If you charged that in the US you would be closed within a week that is nonsense.

Just make sure you don't buy any Monster ball shit, Don't know if you can get that junk here but they sell is in WalMart in the states and its RUBBISH i mean seriously it's like getting hit with a reball (balls that are reusable, usually made of rubber) new comers use it all the time cause it's cheap but it's already being banned on some fields (some fields are cool and let you bring your own balls....not just those ones) cause they are a serious safety issue

I'd be up for this... ...I'm AWESOME at COD4!!!...

Hahah this should be interesting

Sounds good as long as we don't have to travel out too far.

Oh I go crazy and start spraying paint LOL!

Haha reminds me of this one time when a complete ass challenged my team thinking PB is a no skill sport, ended up taking out some of his own team until he ran out, thats when we taught him a lesson usually we are against bonus balling but this kid deserved it

Glad to see a good amount of interest will start organizing soon

    • No it's fine. Heat sleeve is a thing. With oil running through it it is unlikely. Engine off heat soak can be a thing though. There is no way that you have a leak through the hose. That has pressure behind it and any small hole will turn into a large one in very short order. It is so much more likely to be leaking from the connection.
    • Really? That's piss weak. I didn't know they hobbled the shitboxen that badly. OK. So probs need to buy a flywheel too. But that's not too bad.
    • Hi all. I already posted some newbie-ish questions here and there but this will be my first "big" post. Last summer I went and fulfilled a kind of childhood wish, because I just thought I needed this experience in my life no matter what. The car I bought is a mildly modded 1995 BCNR33 Vspec. It was repainted to a metallic orange color all around and it had all windows reseated. Not so well done black respray in the trunk and a metallic black in the engine bay. From outside it looks very nice except for a minor paint error on the roof and the rear spats needing new adhesive tape. The inside is pretty clean and no broken plastics, missing or faded buttons. Even the adjustable mirrors and trunk antenna work like a charm. Despite a moderately long list of issues I don't (yet) regret buying this car. Most mechanical problems are just due to age, like worn rubbers here and there. The underside sadly has lots of corrosion, especially to the back. It looks like it either has been driven in the winter for a while or it lived near the saltwater in Japan, the rust is nothing terrible but it'll require to be looked after. Mostly panel gaps and all the mounted components underneath are a bit crusty, but I don't think anywhere has progressed so badly that there's going to be holes. Front right jacking rail is crushed and needs some care so it doesn't develop into a rust crater at some point. Worst part is definitely the strut towers. I thought they looked fine but after taking off the strut bar I noticed that it actually started bulging up on the passenger side. Probably would have passed on the car or negotiated down by some thousand Euros more if I had noticed this before buying, but here we are. Trunk area also has signs that there was a water leak to the interior once but nothing too crazy, I guess lots of Skylines had this at some point. As for the list of (known) issues, I'll try to make this compact. I hope the coloring is self explanatory. Mechanical: -Various busted or soon-to-be busted rubber bushings and ball joints. Will replace ball joints with OEM or better and bushings with polyurethane where possible. -Shaking steering wheel at above 80kph -downshift from 5th to 4th is a bit crunchy unless I rev-match, might just try to renew the shifter assembly, but it's not a priority issue -tailshaft centre bearing could use a replacement, is it worth going 1-piece tailshaft as it doesn't look too fresh all around? Chassis: -underbody corrosion on many spots and in hollow spaces, needs to be treated -corrosion on many bolts, hoses, lines, suspension components, subframes, will be treated when replacing of the bushings is needed as time goes on -strut tower top panels and some of the surrounding panels are rusty, so needs fixing. Will look into doing this with a buddy in the winter, otherwise bite the bullet and pay a professional -driver side door is misaligned to the body and needs to go a slight bit more inwards -both door windows are misaligned and have an airgap where the window meets the door at the B pillar -The Aerocatch latches for the bonnet have locks but no keys, need new keys. -driver side door window is kind of gritty and could use a polish -damaged jacking rails and front frame rails, from people lifting the car the wrong way, might have this fixed by a bodyshop Electrical: -Nismo tachometer is just bouncing and displaying nonsense, supposedly worked fine when the stock ECU was still in the car -An old Greddy boost controller sits on the dash which will be removed as it servers no purpose anymore. -a led segment rpm gauge is on the steering column, will probably also be (re-)moved once the Nismo tacho is working correctly -there was an attempt to make the sound system better by the previous owner but it was just inducing noise all the time, ripped out the amp and filters in the back, no music for now -trunk antenna goes up as long as the radio is on regardless of the mode, I want it to only rise if I choose Radio specifically or per switch -3rd brake light is a bit dimmer than the taillights but everything was converted to LEDs so mabye now it just seems dimmer? -reverse light flickers, have to test if that behavior changes when I fiddle with the gear stick. Hope I can get around changing the switch. -Left side taillight, blinker section has minor water intake and is humid after washing. Other side has a hole in it, probably for that exact reason. I'll probably reseal them entirely and plug the holes. Engine: -minor coolant drips on one or the other hose -rear turbo leaks oil onto the exhaust making the car essentially undriveable due to fire hazard -Oil filter relocation kit has an oil drip at the Dash lines, will probably make a new connection there and tighten real good and pray -throttle body assembly is slightly stuck for the first throttle pedal input after sitting for a while I'm always open to suggestions and advice from more experienced people, I'm sure half of this list is easily dealt with and just requires some time and effort to sort out properly. Once I have some proper pictures of the car I will post some in this thread, I just have to remember to take some more once I get the chance to. Will post updates when I have news on anything, I want to try to keep this thread as kind of a logbook as well. Ultimately my goal for this car is to just enjoy it. An engine rebuild is probably going to happen sometime as well, because it is old after all. It will never be fully new again, I am just not that rich. But I want it to look good, work well and not rot away while I drive it. I'm probably gonna spend a lot of money on this journey, hopefully not an unreasonable amount.
    • Hi all. So one of my major issues at the moment is my rear turbo leaking oil on the exhaust (and the general area). I presumed it was the rock hard super old drain hose, which it was not. So now I am in the midst of removing the rear turbo to get access to the banjo bolt that goes into the turbo oil feed. As one of the previous owners accidentally? tore off the OEM oil feed hardline that reaches behind the turbo, they ran braided lines directly to the turbo, presumably PTFE. Now, regardless if the line has rubber or teflon inside, is it just generally a bad idea to do this? I imagine these lines get quite hot being between the engine, turbo core and exhaust manifold. I suppose it's not too far fetched to think the line may even have melted. I'd love to hear your opinions on this as as the replacement OEM hardline piece is 130 per unit. And cutting open the currently mounted line to see inside will mean I just have to get a replacement either way. So far I am hoping maybe the bolt just loosened or (god forbid) they forgot one of the crush washers.
    • If it's a factory 20de manual probably has the 6 bolt flywheel in which case the det clutches won't work as they're 9 bolt.
