Can anyone recommend any other trailer companies (Sydney only) apart from; Austrailers, Unique Trailers, BM Trailers, Mario Trailers.

Based on my car specs (600kg, 2500mm wheelbase, 1500mm width, 3900mm length) i've had everything recommended from 10x6 to 12x6, single and twin axle and priced from $1800-$3000.

Richard,,,how the hell did you pick that so quickly,,,,Spot on my good man. Rod Marklands car actually.

Neil.

way too much time spent in the paddock at historic meets running the alfa :yucky: it looked very familiar!

It's so much fun fitting out a trailer,,,I'm having a ball!!!. 12 volt and 240 volt are going in next. I need to do a bench top but don't want to add a super heavy kitchen top so I'm undecide on than one at the moment.

Here mine, brand new got it Friday..... I've been driving around everywhere with the 'line on it this weeknd just to see how it tows and find a balnce sweet spot ;)

Would have considered getting one via Bobby but this one was a lot closer to me.

Now the customising starts.... I think i'll kick off with 12V, running water, mount the compressor, tyre rack, tool box, and hopefully some through-floor ratched tie downs :D

Marlin that actually looks like a trailer from 'Unique Trailers' (re: bobby) as its exactly the same design even down to where the plate is fitted also the sealed off inner guards which I havent seen on any other trailer except 'Unique Trailers'. They have recently opened a shop in QLD too and send them up from Sydney.

I spent about 4hrs trailer shopping on Saturday.

That exact design in 12x6 tandem with used rubber from 'Unique Trailers' is $2950 on road with flat or beaver tail. The build quality is very good and Peter was great to deal with.

'Austrailers' want $2800 on road for the same design in 12x6 but flat tail with side rails. They had 1 in the yard which looked like it had been there atleast a month as the brakes were rusted over and a couple of other little joins had started to rust (possibly just due to lack of paint prep in these areas rather than poor workmanship). I could have taken that 1 for $2600 cash on road but kept looking. The guy there was extremely helpful and they obviously know what they are doing due to the amount of stock they were pumping out.

'Elf Trailers' wanted $2250 for 12x6 + blueslip + rego + GST but to me it would be too much mucking around getting it blue slipped and rego'd when the other 2 shops offer the same design for basically the same price on road.

The interesting think I found was that due to the jigs they have setup for the standard car trailer sizes (12, 14, 15 x 6) that to get a custom made 10x6 single axel would cost me the same because it takes longer for them to measure and cut etc so i'll just get a 12x6 tandem and be done with it.

The biggest problem now is that I keep being told by neighbours and friends whom have owned many trailers to make sure it is galvanized if im not prepared to strip/paint it yearly if it sits out in the weather (which is something I definitely don't want to do). My trailer will only be used about 15x a year so their is no reason why it shouldn't ever look anything but brand new.

I'll have to ring Unique + Austrailers on Monday to find out pricing on galvanized to see what the price difference is. If it's only a couple of hundred i'll get it done but any more and i'll just get regular paint I guess.

Hi,

Here is my trailer that i purchased a little while ago, it is 15ft with electric brakes, ford hubs and 100mm drop axles.

Endend up being $4000 from B&M Trailers, they are selling the standard ones for $3100 which is 14ft a lot higher and cable brakes.

Replied to your PM Ben.

I got a 15ft version, I like to have some room and it might even be better come resale time.... the beaver tail is good, very easy to load and no fluffing about. :P

Edit: Oh, and the floor to guard clearence it 180mm, so my 32 has about 70mm clearance.

Yeah it's charged by the kg so a trailer is pretty dear. The one I've got uses Blue Scope thick wall tube (not China crap) and is Hammertone finished, so honestly, it'll out-last me. Especially if I don't quite smoking soon.

edit: Changed "fagging" to smoking.... woulda left myself wide open.

mmmmmmm fags......

ben, if you want the thing to last just keep it dry. as long as you can keep the thing out of the rain it will look sweet for ages. otherwise they look crap pretty quick. 1 or 2 outings in the wet and they get spots all over.

meh gal for sure if you can afford it. we paint ours every year or 2 (I don't know many people who have enough inside storage for cars, let alone trailers.

just imagine how much fun it is one weekend a year to be wire brushing, priming and painting a trailer when you could be building (yet another) motor for the race car instead

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
