It was a top day yesterday...

I had a heap of fun for my first DECA as a driver... :D

POI's

-The corona is a BIG handfull on the skidpan... i was so out of breath after the first run i couldn't talk :D

-I need a handbrake that works when i want it to... not just when it feels like it.

-Second gear doughnuts can be hazardous to your health... the car fills with smoke :(:D

-the back tracks are really fun!

Any way thanks to all the organisers.. i know you had a tough day with not having many volunteers

One small piece of possible advice that could be maybe looked at is to start the day a little earlier maybe.

I reckon if everyone got to DECA when me and the Datto boys did... it might have gave us a few extra runs at the end of the day.

i know there was other problems through the day that slowed it down but i reckon it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Just my 2c

Other than that... top stuff... looking forward to the pics and vids...

I hope someone got a glimpse of my smoke show, but from what epople have said, no one had cameras out

MaT

It would have started a little earlier, but a spectator had an epileptic siezure, so thats why there were delays in the morning.

I had an absolute blast, even though I didn't compete. Was great fun helping out as an official, and I have got some great photos of every car going through the first chicane on the long track. Just need to sift through the 1200 photos I took, for the best ones. Give me about a week :P

The night festivites were great aswell...it was a hoot.

I am aware of that, like i said... i know there was many issues involved in how delayed the day was...

but i still think the day could have started a little earlier...

Although that would mean frysie doesn't get his nice little sleep-in :P

what about RACV Khoa? they'll come out, whack in another battery, might cost $70-$100, but you could have got there pretty much at the start of proceedings?

I'm not a member,

Waiting time at such time is going to be a while, joining fees.....etc by the time it'll cost 4 times more and i'm still going to be late so it was not worth it anymore.

The footage looks like so much fun!!! I'm so jealous right now..

I will def be checking out the next one, hope you all had a great time...so peeved that I couldnt make it to this one.

Yeah great couple of days and a massive couple of nights.

A big thanks to Shane (VSPEC-33 ) and AP ( LEANBAC ) for getting me up to Shep and back home.. :D

I will put some pics up a little latter....

Another great DECA... ;)

Had a great time, thanks to all the organisers and helpers.

My Highlights

- Tim's R32 sitting on the limiter all day

-That very smokey spin matt had in the corona

- getting very loose over the hill on the mini wang, momentarily hitting the limiter

-Perfect weather, couldn't have hoped for a better day

-Oh and sneaking ahead of a certain now high powered Sileightly on the first pass of the long wang

It was good to meet a few blokes and have a few rides in cars.

Thanks again

Was good to get back out there again, think I did better so have to put it to down to driving a vtec honda for 12mths before getting the new taxi hehe

Car is booked in for new rear tyres in the morning, they're looking rather secondhand.

Agreed.

The car was great out the back - even for street tyres

Yeah the X was farken awesome around the short wang, although I don't think you had to do much input to make it do what it did. Would take some serious effort to "run out of talent" with that thing on the road!

It is a fact that the drive home from deca is actually longer than the drive up there...

To begin with, a big thanks to all the volunteers that helped throughout the day. I dont think the back track could have pumped the cars around any faster if they tried. go double stop watches.

As for the driving side of things, i think i would have been better off parking the car after the back track. Its a fairly different car to the previous decas, its now got a bit more whore in it. its hard to say but its inability to stop locking wheels on the skid pan may have had something to do with this

it was massively obvious when i drove it off the trailer so i cant imagine not noticing it yesterday. i dont know how the hell you crack a rotor at deca anyway, they were warmed up before the back track and dont get hot anywhere else...

then there was last night.. what did we learn? well:

wearing pop button shirts is a silly idea unless you preempt every attack by ripping it open yourself. chasing kids while doing this is even better.

speeches should always be left up to the guy noone knows and wasnt at the event.

wang bangers in pints suck.

belt fights are better with sound affects.

chicken salt and dim sims dont go chris. never have 'the same' as him.

DO NOT dierespect the aboriginal cows (in the park). only disrespect the white ones or you'll have a drunk aboriginal gang to deal with.

just a couple from my phone

had a good weekend thanks to all those that put in work to make this stuff happen... the weather in Shep always seems to be perfect! that lake is a bit dry tho:/

gotta love the Shep pubs, 10 guys stacks on humping each other like madmen right out the front and everyone gets in fine... just as long as they took off the hats!?

Bart's Mo FTW... almost as sleazy as mine mate, keep working on it;)

Please see 2nd line of my sig for my thoughts on driving at deca... anyone want to buy a 33?... female owner, never been boosted

Ryan is that all you broke! your just not trying

Ps. Adz wore that shirt on purpose... looking good mate!

Yeah great couple of days and a massive couple of nights.

A big thanks to Shane (VSPEC-33 ) and AP ( LEANBAC ) for getting me up to Shep and back home.. :(

I will put some pics up a little latter....

Another great DECA... :P

    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way.
