Hey Bro,

Yesterday, my Gtt was defected. But what a joke, they defected my exhaust, not loud, because it is not standard!!!! and pod filter, thats it............. they wrote on the paper, "emmission systems to be returned to standard.

Ting

if your gtt was imported under the 15 year rule you may do what you like with the exhaust provided its quiet enough, and Pod filters are legal provided they are secured to the engine bay and not flopping around loosely.

If I were you, I'd call up the police station this officer is attached to, tell them you've spoken to regency and they say the mods listed as defectable are completely legal.

In some cases they will simply cancel the defect notice. Not always, but its worth a shot.

Better option is to print out the ADRs saying that it is legal, go down to the local police station with that and your defect notice, if you are polite and show you've done the research I have heard of them revoking the notice before.

I have been sent a notice to complete a full IM240 test to get my car register after moving to SA. Has anyone here had to do the fully IM240 test at regency, and hoiw hard was it?

im sorry to say ive never heard of any test like that - its probably their internal code - you'd have to call up regency to find out what is involved

I'm pretty sure that is what I had to do, I bought a car interstate and had an engine swap so needed a full inspection, if it is standard motor etc you can get away with just getting a numbers check at a local police station, if it looks modified they will send it to regency for the full inspection though.

The full inspection is basically like if you had your car defected, they go over absolutely everything with a torch, the will yank on all your wheels with a crowbar and see if theres any play in bushes, check for oil leaks, broken boots over steering joints etc.

Make sure everything is up to scratch and legal, if your car is too loud or low they will fail you, if you have obvious engine mods they will require an emissions test etc. It is pretty hardcore, you'll want to get most of it back to standard to pass. FMIC and pods are ok providing they are mounted correctly, same goes for exhausts, they just have to be legal volume, have a cat and be mounted at the correct height etc.

edit: All my forms say it was an M1 test, so if it is the same code system that they gave you it might just be an engine number inspection.

IM240 is a 240 second test (hence the name) on a dyno where they run your car on this line on a screen through acceleration & deceleration to test emissions - they were bringing it in in NSW and WA and some other states - but AFAIK they hadn't brought anything like that to SA yet - maybe things have changed?

(I didn't think Regency had any facilities like that last time I was forced through a defect check, either..)

Sorry guys I should explained better this is an emission test that is done on rollers, in addition to the rest of these items. They drive the car for a time and if you emit too much you remain defected. I am really concerned.

That is a full blown emissions test by the sounds of it, not cheap and very hard to pass unless the car is 100% standard. Why do you have to complete it, are you running an aftermarket turbo/injectors/ECU or something?

If that is the case people normally pay thousands of dollars to get that kind of thing engineered.

got defected for 100% stock bov, i asked the cop why its not removed at compliance and told him it recently passed regency exactly as is. i was not at all rude or arrogant and was not speeding or even accelerating hard.

call up the police station

tell them that you called regency and they said stock blow of valves are ok

with any luck the police will withdraw the defect

thanks mate ill try that now, fingers crossed it works

i got done for a bald tyre last week BUT the cop has ticked vehicle inspection station...

shouldnt it be a cop shop and should i be able to get it off at a cop shop instead of spending $140 to go through regency? -_-

called up the cop shop, managed to get a call back from the one who defected me. like he was ever going to admit he was wrong. said that it was factory in japan not factory in australia, then wen i proceeded to ask why compliance dont remove them he told me compliance ppl are dodgy blokes.

i told him if i block the blow off valve it will recirculate it and result in a flutter, offered to show him with a trusty bottlecap too lol

WTF???

Call him back and tell him he's an idiot!

So he's admitting that it is a standard factory item in japan ... but its not acceptable in australia??? BS ... he's admitted its not defectable basically. Try going over him and speak to his ranking officer.

Maybe even better - call up Regency, ask them the question - get the persons name and pass that onto the officer - telling them if they don't believe you to call Regency and talk to xyz (persons name who told you) that it's 100% legal.

Stock as in plumb back? Or a atmospheric venting one that came with the car when it was imported?

If it's the Nissan stock one, properly recirculating, you should take this all the way to Minister of Police. There are so many examples of overzealous police with their discretionary powers that know crap all about cars, standard or modified.

I mean should we sit idly by and just watch each other get screwed, or one day start taking as much evidence as possible from as many events as possible to show how much this law screws us. If (assumably) a stock BOV is considered illegal.... ..well I don't even know what to say.

It's the first I've heard of this (defecting 'stock' BOVs), and freaks me out since my R gets back on the road next week after quite a long time, what am I to expect?

    • I can ship Nismo floor mats to you: https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/nismo-floor-mats-for-skyline-r33-bcnr33-stagea-wgnc34?_pos=1&_sid=9278c1467&_ss=r
    • Here's the link: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6642/misc/G49?frame_no=WGNC34-137122 What you think about it? The same product i found on nengun: https://www.nengun.com/oem/parts/40567/MiPwn5qAMfCfmpxHNDnwn5q9MDAx8J-QiW9sZC1qcC0xMTAtRzQ5LS0wMDE/Floor+Carpet+%2F+Mat+2/0688339eba149c19 Bot i have spoken to 😅 ensured me, that mats are 100% original, oem product. I have my doubts. I also heard what you mentioned, that nengun often offers items that are actual not available... On the other hand mats i found on japanese yahoo or ebay are in poor condition and still quite expensive so i'd rather wait for some better offers. My location - Poland. We literaly don't have ANY market for used Stagea parts so need to search outside Europe.
    • You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not
    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
