Mmmm, thats a good offer! Neil always comes with beers, what a legend.

Im suprised you're not running in Duncans R32.

How do you feel about binning cars?

Sorry Steve no beer till after the racing is over. Yes I'm more than happy to down a gut load afterwards.

Duncan's car is a combined tourer which makes it basically standard. Not the best choice of car.

He or I could proberly get his car into the top 10-15,,,but thats a waste of valueable resources and I'd like to see him do a full year in C/T and win.

How do I feel about binning a car you ask. Well to start with I'm not in the habit of do such things. Crashes usually happen for 4 reasons:-

1/ Vehicle fault----somewhat out of my control,,,not totally but somewhat.

I had a front control arm break at turn 1 O/P G/P in the Radical at warp speed and only killed the front tyres and a very soiled race suit.

2/ Driver brain fade---not something I suffer from. I've had my moments but never actually smashed a race car yet.

3/Argueing with other cars---superlap is basically a lengthened supersprint,,,so that shouldn't happen.

4/ Someones rubbish left on the track,,,be it fluids or parts---very dangerous and almost totally out of my control.

If I binned someones car it would be for a very good reason mate.

But if you are asking would I pay for the damages my answer would be no.

Love as always

Neil.

Hey Nathan are you around?

I saw this rule in clubsprint class:

• All vehicles entering the Superlap Clubsprint Class must have a full interior. The only exception is for vehicles which have a half cage which needs the back seat to be removed.

I've got no interior trim but the car is still over factory weight (about 1500kg). Can it run in clubsprint?

Well, my contract has been officially extended, so my attendance is now purely in the hands of friends who will need to help me get the car ready. :D So no chance as these things take time when i am doing it let alone relyign on friends to donate time :(

Oh well...the car would have been too pretty to get stone chips on anyway ;)

I can't speak for everyone here, but I enjoy a good cat fight between JP and DirtGarage. Gutter it up!

New Thread - Let the battle begin!

Where is your entry Scotchfinger. I will pay for tyres and fluids if you let me pony up in your car, i think a car can have dual entries :) I mean Snowcone almost punted it, Hanndbags drives it through the grey haze of the morning after....if ever there has been a guy with the skill to bin your car its me

Yep I had a bad cold on the last Superlap, and why I was not jumping up and down on the Vid, lucky I had Johnny Boston there to rev it up, and he did a great job driving and on vid.

Lots of good cars gearing up for this next one. More new entrants to with tough cars, including Sam Markov's immaculate and fast R32 GTR. This next one will be bigger and better than the last one.

Yes in the off season we are pumping the Slot Car up. Better brakes, suspension, more aero, lighter, PPG dog box and more.

fats get that 31 out there, you know you want to.

forget john boston. get troy into the zed. he is a much better driver. trust me bro. and he'll pay for his own tyres. can't do better than that. really I reckon it's between me, fatz, and roy as to who captians the zed this year. maybe a battle royale to sort it out?

Hi All,

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. Just so you all know all needed forms to enter are now available on the Website. Entries are filling fast so anybody interested in joining in on the fun/competition should get there entries in soon to lock in a spot.

Also Oran Park is going to run Open Practise on Saturday before the event. It is open to anyone who wishes to attend and I believe it will be $140 per car.

Cheers

Still thinking about it. I might be putting money towards other things. Motorsport budget will be a bit tight this year too.

What is the max entrants in each class? I just want to know how soon I need to commit if I'm doing it.

Hi,

We do not really have a cap on classes only on the veent total which is 70.

Are entries refundable if you are not able to make it. I want to enter, but common sense keeps prevailing and i realise its too hard to get back from OS and have a car thats ready. But the way the job is going i could get sacked any day so :P

Same applies as last year we do not do refunds however your money and entry is kept on file for a later event for you to enter the next one etc.

massive shame the pre-event practise isnt mid week or the friday for us interstaters.

Can't come and sit in Sydney for a week waiting... lol

:D

There's some nice hills quite close...

Luke is unable to drive due to him recieving VIP passes to F1

Looks like Dave is our new steerer...never driven at Oran but his kart lap times are impressive...was the lap record holder up here for some time until Luke ran a few 10th's better and runs quicker than a multiple State go-kart champ. 4WD sedans are a different proposition though.

Dave is the registered owner of the car and as its his daily driver...full interior complete with baby booster seat in rear, we could go clubman...but tyre choice may keep us in opens.

Yes Beer Bitch but Bozman is heaps lighter than you wide arse lot, so he has a advantage straight off.

I tell you what, if any of you three get down to within 40kg of Bozmans weight you can drive it.

PS Yehaaaa I received my Pro Class invitation and entry form today Nathan.

Congrats on the Pro Class invite JP

Do you have any front upper arms we could use? (broke ours at the last event)

I went up to machine shop this morning to give them a hurry up. They just started back at work after the break. They are close to pivoting centre arms and will have in time and yes. Reason they break is they are loaded as you know they want to go through an arch, and all the arms and bushes on the market only allow to go though one plane and hence they break. They also restrict suspension and act like a stiff shock indirectly, and when they don’t they are starting to work lose and then have play in front end. The more camber and caster of a race car accentuates the problem. Odd thing is some cars get away with it with little or no prbos, whilst others have on going problems. All are binding though and restricting travel or free movement of suspesnion.

    • R32 HICAS, so long as the CU is not itself faulty, is easy to keep working enough for the PS. Just unplug the smaller of the two loom plugs, on the CU, like I have already said about 4000 times on this forum. This works with all the stock hardware, or with a lock bar, or with a complete removal. I know, because I have done all of them. OK, actually, I never put a lock bar on because why would you put a lock bar on when you can get rid of the whole lot, including the stupid tie rod ends?
    • Join the NorCal facebook group btw, but if you can confirm it is HICAS I would install a lock bar and do the work to keep the HICAS control unit happy despite the hardware not functioning. The HICAS control unit is also responsible for speed sensitive power steering so if it's unhappy you'll get failsafe/heavy power steering. A standalone can control that power steering solenoid valve but sometimes it's just easier to stick with the factory setup. Tomei makes a little electronic module that you can install to fool the control unit. I would probably go through the effort to not use a scotch-lok and build a harness so I don't have to chop up the OEM harness. Where you could source those connectors and pins I wouldn't know at the moment though.
    • Oh, another question comes to mind though. What sort of shitty fuel are you feeding it. Mine, a turbo, has to be fed 98RON, so it doesn't ping itself to death. 98 in Oz is good, dense fuel with minimal oxygenated compounds. Meaning that the energy density is high, and if the O2 trim is working, you will get more MPG than with a lesser fuel. If you're using some sort of piss poor E10 blend with some other MBTE or other oxygenated additions, that could explain using more per mile.
    • I have no idea where the thump is coming from, it sounds like its from behind me but im not exactly sure. And it was the HICAS light that came on.   I think a complete delete is the route im going to go. Probably going to pick up the kit within the next month and get it installed. HICAS is just going to end up being a headache if I keep it.    Thanks you.
    • Just putting this here for reference for other beginners. Similar to what I said above.  I learnt if you have a few dents that are fairly close to each other (within a couple of inches maybe 2-4 inches?) Use filler across them all and sand it all at once with the long block as opposed to fixing them seperately.  Will make life MUCH easier because you won't get stuck in the cycle that I did. I think doing it seperately there is some overlap (mean your whole repair zone might cover near the area of the other dent) and you start sanding near the other dent making a low spot.
