Hello Guys and Girls,

I have a water leak from my turbo line's, So i am going braided lines,

Because iam attacking that, At the same time iam going to put on a oil cooler just not sure what once are good, The car will see track day's a few times a year. And iam going to put on a relocation kit oil filter as well. It's a 32GTR.

Let me know what oil cooler's you have and relocation kit's. What's bang for buck and what to stay away from.

Trust is the ticket and get the remote filter mount in the kit, it comes with a thermostat. These are a must for a track day

Three varieties.

1. Mounted in front of the radiator, short hose length, some believe that it cuts down on efficiency of the rad

2. Left inside guard. Long hose length, needs more oil to fill it i guess...there is one for sale in the FS section at the moment if I recall

3. flat underneath engine. I dont know anyone who bought one.

I got HKS and agree that its well worth the extra money to go with a Jap kit over the generic / chinese stuff. Relatively easy fit, no leaks and peace of mind. If you search you will find many instances of problems with the chinese kits. The HKS kit cost $800 landed from nengun, but that was before the exchange rate tanked.

BTW if you have the time take the plenum off and do ALL the coolant pipes at the same time. Its a bitch of a job, but its better than relying on old stuff. If one line has gone the rest may well be soon to follow. Dunno if its worth going braided for coolant lines - silicon should outlast the car.

That's the one i got, and it is brilliant. I am yet to see temps on my 32 above 85 degrees. Last week i took it work, on the way home 30degrees, over an hour in traffic and it didn't move over 85 degrees. Very easy to install as not one single part needs to be removed from the car!

I also got the largest core and lines, -12 braided lines and i think 16 row core. No pressure drop at all after the install.

I was able to get a secondhand HKS s spec with braided lines and alloy air ducting, mounting gear & thermostat for $350, Was all in good condition, installed front left guard, saw an immediate difference in temps... great line connections, sealed perfectly.

I am gonna change most lines. All ready a few have split on me. I guess that's what happens when your car is a 89modle.

i have a kit from just jap. if you know how to install pipes and stuff, then its all good. i have not had any leaks from productfailure.... you must do things up properly though.

i see a few track days a year and it hasnt missed a beat. the only problem is the length of the lines... but it all depends where you put the kit.

personally i would build it myself from parts from the earl;s catalogue and get the lines spot on with all the right angles a bits....you follow?

Well there you go, I do know someone lol. I have the 13row in front of the radiator. A couple of bends here and there and it fits fine. Similar results from memory. Being in Perth I would say that an oil cooler is an essential that belongs near the top of the list of mods.

i've got a serck core in hte passenger side vent, with a filter relocation to the front x-member.

it's got braided lines and earls fittings - not one drop of oil leaked so far.

the japanese cores are good, and the kits fit well, but you can build your own kit from quality parts and it will be a few hundred bucks less.

best way to go is trust kit. I've had 3 over the years. one was from another car but adapted to my GTI-R. another was the 32 GTR rad mount kit, and the other one is the 32 GTR passenger side duct mounted kit. i've also used earls and HKS. the trust is the best of the lot. get the duct mounted one. the radiator mounted ones are not a good way to go. it's a very inefficient spot. i know, i've used both on my 32 GTRs. both the same size core, both trust. one in the duct, one in front of the rad. the duct one did a MUCH better job.

piggaz one is a good example, rad mount, huge 19row core, chinese one and yet it still hits 110 on the street. a small 10 row trust core mounted in the duct you'll never get near 110 pushing as hard as you can on the street. and that's with a core half the size.

Really good point. I was worried about mine mounting horizontally under the car, and was going to mount it between the cooler and radiator but decided against it for air flow. As i said with mine I actually really really struggle to see 90 degrees, let alone 110. On the NSW Putty Rd cruise it didn't even get to 85 degrees. And that's non stop twisties.

the best way to go is in either side duct.

you are not robbing airflow from radiator or intercooler

intercooler or radiator is not robbing airflow from the oil cooler

you can seal it off properly in the duct and allow a proper path for the exhaust

it's safe in there providing you use some mesh in the duct (factory mesh is fine)

you can get away with a smaller core as it will be operating very efficiently.

    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.

Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
