fair go,

if they wanna make their car look like a gt-r that's fine by me, they are the ones who are gunna look silly when they take on a seriously fast car.

same deal with those lancer guys who put on all the evo kits, it's fun until someone wants to run, or someone asks you if it's a real evo.

if they do it just cos they like the styling, they can tell people and not feel bad. if they wanna pose as a real gt-r owner, then they prolly get eaten up inside when they have to come clean or if they straight up lie to people and tell them it is a gt-r.

*edit: the above was in reference to gt-r/evo *kit*. i don't really agree with badging it a gt-r, likewise with BMWs and the M3/M5 badge and the mercs with the AMG badging.

i don't think anyone can argue against me in this - it's misleading and making out the car is something is most certainly not.

It's not a GTR, it's a GTS-R :(

Edit: some pics of one. The R overwrites the S so it's easy to miss and think it says GTR.

What is a GTR with a gtst badge called?

GTR with GTST badging - sleeper

GTST with GTR bading - wanker

Does this look like it has a GTR badge on it? http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/marketplace...o=1&chkRows=500

I wonder how many guys on this forum have GTR badging on their gts and won't admit to it publically? :D

I saw a white R-34 GT-T with....ugly bodykit, GTR badge and stock GT-T wheels. Could he have made it any worse? I mean the tasteful thing would be to do the opposite - leave the body stock, not put on a GTR badge and buy some decent wheels. At least then you can say you've got a decent looking GT-T, as opposed to a sad wannabe-GTR GT-T.

I drive a pretty phat R33 GTS-T. I have not and would not ever consider throwing a GTR badge on it! And damn those dogs who do! Its de-grading to the true beast that prowls the road. Ive upped my body kit with a 400R front bar and a custom jap kit all round but thats it!...

Ive run a few fake GTR'S and had a laugh about it after i whipped em! Either way u can tell a real GTR from a fake one if u know ur stuff! But screw the morons who farkk with the system!

When it comes to badging I think people should be proud of what they have, if they have a GTS-T they should be proud of it.

When it comes to kits they can do what they want, the GTR kit is nice and if its installed correctly gives the car a nice look.

If they are doing it, and it makes them happy.. then thats great..

I agree fully. The GTS-t is still a pretty serious machine and absolutely nothing to be even slightly ashamed of. But when you compare a Lancer GL with the equivalent Evo, it's understandable why the owners feel so ashamed of their cars that they feel the need to rice it up and make everyone think it's an Evo :P

I bought my car from a yard, and it had a GTR badge on it.. I havn't taken it off because I don't want to damage the paint.. I want to wait until I'm getting it resprayed to do that..

I know it's not a GTR.. and I wouldn't put one on my car if I had one.. but the fact is I'd rather the badge there, than a portion of boot wearing that 'ripped off paint' look you get after someone debadges their car...

Flame me if you want but hey.. I don't really care :D

HOTR33, I think that's a valid excuse. Maybe most of the ones we see on our roads were like that from Japan and the owners don't want to get rid of them for the same reason. We can only hope :D

You can easily get the badge off HOTR33 without damaging the paint if you are careful.

1. Wash your car

2. Get some string and in a see-sawing motion move the string behind the badge... and off it comes.

3. Polish section of paintwork to get residual glue off.

Trust me ive debadged my car and not a single mark remains

saw a white R32 in Carlton where I work today. Looks pretty nice until i took a closer look. Someone had gone to the trouble of doing a full GTR front coversion (bonnet, grill and bar)- fair enough cause it does look pretty good.

Unfortunately there at the back was a GTR badge.

Most of the fake GTRs I've seen are easy to tell by the rear guards. I say if anyone wants to put kits and badges on their GTS-t then let them. I take it as a compliment to a real GTR.

Meanwhile, I'll be driving around in my GTR with the badges removed. They'll be driving a up-played GTS while getting creamed by a down played GTR. Suits me.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
