WIN! :D

im really keen to catch a king now!

would any other live bait work? im guessing a popper would work too as it does the flailing/dying fish splashing on the water

ash, i recomend gettin back into it. nothing like having that reel scream while you scramble to grab it LOL

im gona try johnny's spot if the weathers good :P

have you fished lorne pier? theres some massive fish there. one time, i hooked onto a little salmon and out of nowhere a 45cm long barracuda just nailed it.

was hard for an 8 year old kid to reel in but ill never forget it

okzzz i just came back from schnapper point. awesome spot... nice wimmenz

BUT!

no even a bite!

it was dead quiet the most iv'e seen caught was just a couple of trev's

i caught a star fish tho....

i eventually got so fed up that i put a jig head on a big ass hook to try and jig for the kingfish..

nothing :D

i went home and went to sleep lol.. best part of the day

yeah i know snapper seasons over but theres still some big ones around

i asked a local if this is a good spot

he said he usually would of caught 10 salmon in an hour or two.. another said he's been reguarly busted off by massive kingfish

Anymore hotspots guys :) I know its a old post but saves me from typing up another one :)

I've tried under the west gate Williamstown side last week. Caught about 3 brim off shrimps but you cant eat the fish from there I've heard, but not worth it lol. Don't think theres anything decent there.

Also tried Werribee South off the boat pier not even a bite.

Also tired schnapper point caught a little banjo.

Best luck we've had so far is in rye off the boat thou. Caught about 10 flatheads and about 5 banjo's in about 1 hour. Good fun.

Also barwon heads off the beach caught a few small whiting. Nothing to brag about :) ....

Please someone guide me to a good spot cause im sick of catching nothing lol.... Also what bait you used would be great......

Saltwater/ Freshwater doesnt bother me.

Cheers!!! :D

I used to go fishing to Colac back when it was more then just a puddle,

It was good catching eels and big carp there, used to be up all night catching them cause they would bite like crazy durring the night

There would be other people there fishing for eels as well and all through the night it will just be the sound of constant reeling of the fish

now that it dried up a lot, i haven't been fishing for 2 years or so

what are you guys catching?

im yet to catch a pinky/snapper from land =/

might head up to elwood on firday or saturday and spend an all nighter there.

my uncle got a 1.5kg pinky off the rocks and surf

i used to go fiching heaps.

one of my fave spots was the pier in corio bay

cought many pinkies there

Where's good to fish on great ocean rd? Trying to decide between Warrnambool surf fishing vs Port Campbell, Apollo bay or Lorne pier fishing. Some estuaries are also good along GOR? I'm lazy so I like lure fishing - can't be assed buying bait and keeping it fresh. What do people recommend? I've heard raiders are good for aussie salmon. I really don't mind what I catch, as long as it's edible. Thanks.

forgot what beach but theres a beach on the GOR, where the river meets the ocean and it only meets at high tide

catch small salmon there and keep them alive in a bucket. when its dark. hook then thru the jaw or tail and throw them back into the water. loose drag, rod holder and WAIT.. should be able to snag a smallish shark or mulloway

This sounds weird but in Docklands you can catch some pinkies and garfish with surprising consistency. Very weird considering its basically in the middle of the CBD but honestly have a go.

Otherwise I found the nameless creeks and rivers in diamond creek/warrandyte area are very good for eel fishing in the middle of the night from 12 to 5am.

Only problem is that you have to walk through some light bush to get to the river most of the time (no more than 100m off the "track") and at night it can get very Blair Witch project so I dont usually go unless i have a group of at least 5 hahahahaha

bait for eels - go to safeway and buy the nastiest most revolting dog food (the ones in the freezer) you can find. The eels love it. Wear gloves.

    • @Murray_Calavera  If I were an expert I wouldn't be in here looking for assistance.  I am extremely computer literate, have above average understanding on how things should be working and how they should tie together.  If I need to go to a professional tuner so be it, but I'd much rather learn and do things myself even if it means looking for some guidance along the way and blowing up a few engines. @GTSBoy  I was hoping it would be as simple as a large vacuum leak somewhere but I'm unable to find anything, all lines seem to be well capped or going where they need to be, and when removed there is vacuum felt on the tube.  It would be odd for the Haltech built in MAP to be faulty, the GTT tune I imported had it enabled from the start, I incorrectly assumed it was reading a signal from the stock MAP, but that doesn't exist.  After running a vacuum hose to the ECU the signal doesn't change more than 0.2 in either direction.   I'll probably upload a video of my settings tomorrow, as it stands I'm able to daily drive, but getting stuttering when giving it gas from idle, so pulling away from lights is a slow process of revving it up and feathering the clutch until its moving, then it will accelerate fine.  It sounds like I need to get to the bottom of the manifold pressure issue, but the ignition timing section is most intimidating to me and will probably let a pro do that part.  Tomorrow I'll try a different vacuum line to T off of, with any luck I selected one that was already bypassed during the DBW swap. @feartherb26  I do have +T in the works but wanted to wait until Spring to start with that swap since this is my good winter AWD vehicle.  When removing the butterfly, did it leave a bunch of holes in the manifold that you needed to plug?  I thought about removing it but assumed it would be a mess.   I notice no difference when capping the vacuum line to it or letting it do its thing.  This whole thing has convinced me to just get a forward facing manifold when the time comes though.
    • Update: tested my spark plugs that are supposed to be 5ohms with a 10% deviation and one gave me a 0 ohms reading and the rest were 3.9ohm<, so one bad and the others on their way out.
    • 9" wheels are a little too wide for a RWD 32. They can fit. People have put R33 GTR wheels on 32s for years and years. But they are a very tight squeeze. This has been known for about 30 years. As I said - there is no difference between a 17 and an 18 in terms of what will fit. The rolling diameter needs to stay about the same as stock - not very much larger. If you increase that, you will start to have problems. If you increae rolling diamater at the same time as yo increase width, you will have problems earlier. as 9" wheels are pushing the boundaries already, you would need to be careful with tyre choice. I would put 8.5s on the front of mine, but would expect problems with 9s.

    • Diagnostic flow for a code 21 says check signal at the ECU pins, on a voltmeter of some kind it should read 0.1V at idle, 0.12V cranking, 0.15-0.25V at 2000 rpm. Check each coil such that +1, -3 is infinite or very high resistance, -3, +2 should do the same. (-1, +3), (+3, -2), (+1, -2), and (-1, +2) should all be somewhere between 0 ohms and high resistance. If you trace the path from the coil pin all the way back to the ECU in the diagram the resistance you measure at the coil vs connected to the harness should be pretty much the same.
