Perhaps it was because I wanted full comprehensive but for my R33, series two, with only wheels and small sound system NRMA wanted over $4,500 and didn't ask if my licence had or had not been suspended, which it has. Justcar had all of my details and wanted $2,200.

Next time your insurance is up phone Justcar again, I will eat my shoes if NRMA beats the price of any of my insurance :(

if you drive a hatchback, have maximum no claim bonus, live in a decent suburb and are over 50, then NRMA becomes competitave. Otherwise they are a massive rip off.

i'm also with just cars, had a claim end of last year. They were very very good. i had a lot of probs trying to get parts as my car had all genuine Nismo parts. and as you all know nismo is no longer part of nissan. i wrote a very nasty email to just cars (in which the mail was past on to someone higher up along the chain) and she (from JCI) called nissan to find out whats happening and she got the ball rolling a lot faster. All in all very happy with JCI but not happy with nissan australia.

note: if you are currently with JCI and you have any major probs, let me know and i'll give you the email of the person from JCI that got things done for me.

i finally went with just cars, if only someone made a companny to compete with them famous want way 2 much, just cars is seriously taking advantage of this target group of car enthusists

Smart business strategy actually....

The thing about NRMA is that they don't want your car insurance. They want the whole shebang. If you insure your house with them (if you have one), Green Slip, have membership, etc, and are older, suddenly the picture changes dramatically...

Not good news for younger blokes, I know.

I went with NRMA, they were cheaper than just car. Even the guy on the phone was amazed at how cheap it was.

Paid $574 for 3rd Party + Fire and Theft, where as just car was more with just the 3rd party.

You may want to check they got exactly the right version. Not the non-turbo...

Advice from 8years of import car ownership

Just car - Expensive, not very good customer service but a friend made a claim and they looked after him.

Famous - Read the fine print, I didnt feel the policy was comforting. They also had (2004 era) poor customer service).

Shannons - Brilliant! They have had my gtst for 5-6 years now.

thought I'd bring this thread back and keep info up to date

my experience:

tried GIO but they don't take any new business for custom car insurance, referred me to just cars

LSV don't do modern cars anymore (apparently) I know a few V35 guys who are with lumley

shannons referred me to Just car as I am under 25 and they don't want to tread on their sister companies toes, the rep told me to give them a ring after I turn 25

already with Just car,

22 west sydney (mt druitt-oh yeah!)

Maximum no claim

$1989 full comp, may get cheaper if I bump up the excess

$35 maximum no claim protection option, bastards, I've been "stuck" with just cars for 5 years and I have to pay to protect my no claim?

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
