Insuring Lamborghini Gallardo For Under 21

Recommended Posts

Ok I'm in a little bit of a predicament my uncle up in Brisbane has recently purchased a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and says his son (my awesome cousin) and I can drive it as long as we can find an insurance company that would cover us (without a ridiculous price tag) I was almost certain JustCar would insure us but I had little luck there I was hoping you guys would now any insurance companies that would even consider our application?

Little info

We havent had any claims, were both under 21, I'm on my Full's my cousin is on his P's and we both REALLY want to drive this car

Oh and Shannon's just rejected me as well....this is not looking good

Yeah good luck with that made. I think probably due to the price tag and your age you will have little to no luck finding someone.

Maybe if you try one of the smaller insurance companies like young and cool or people like that? or maybe that new one..pay as you drive or something?

Just start calling everyone. I doubt you would get anyone to cover your cousin as on his P's im pretty sure this would be classified as a high powered vechile and therefor illegal. I would probably focus on just your application.

GIO has a performance section for a while. Worth trying for. Also try an online quote, may slip through.

An Insurance Broker, maybe..?

I had to go through one with my Mitsubishi Lancer GLi cuz I was 19 at the time and just because the paper work said Lancer SV = Special Vehical just because of a bodykit, wheels and nothing else...

BTW show us some pics.

You want insurance for a 21 year old driving a 2006 Lambo, and you don't want a ridiculous price tag?

:D

I'd expect that IF you do find someone willing to insure you, you could well be looking at close to a 5 figure premium

PICS ARE UP DAMMIT HAHAH...isn't she just gorgeous?

LOL!

Yeah now I see. Man it looks awesome.

Is that, what looks to be a Porsche behind it in the 1st pic?

Also when you find insurance for it, drive it down to Melbourne and we have a SAU meet up.

You cant insure a vehicle that isnt yours. Your best bet is getting your uncle to list you as a driver.

And with your age, there wouldnt be a premium big enough that would accept you two as a risk.

Good luck!

Have to agree with you.

Think about it from their perspective. A couple "kids" under 21 want to pay you money to cover all the possible costs of repairs for a car worth $200k? Due to their age, they likely dont have a lot of driving experience, more along the lines of you CAN'T have a lot of experience due to your limited time at being able to have a license. Plus young drivers are more prone to speeding, etc even if you personally don't fit that category.

How much money would charge a couple of people that came to you, asking you to take on that risk? I wouldn't be surprised if they asked for $20k just to insure you if anyone actually agrees.

On the other note. Best of luck mate. Would be awesome if you actually got it covered.

i'm 29 rating 1 and drive a 33gtst that shannons class as "highly modified" and it's insured for 22.5k i pay $1600 per year

you are under 21 and want to drive a lambo gallardo that redbook value @ 265k so going on percentages here...

you should be paying $18,930 per year (plus 500 underage excess) :D

ouch...I'm 23 and pay less than you for the same thing with the same company

1. Your uncle's car is a sexy, SEXY car.

2. His garden looks really nice too - and I don't normally care about gardens lol.

3. I'm over 25. How about you get your uncle to insure me and I'll take you and I'll drive you and your cousin around for an entire day.

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
