Hey all im fairly new to the skyline world, bought an R32 gtst M spec series 2 with a few tastefull mods including

HKS 25/30 ball bearing

GTR injectors

Ballast resistors

Bosch 044 in tank fuel pump

Hybrid front mount

full 3 inch turbo back exhaust

Turbosmart manual boost tee

ECU tuned by mines

Supposedly done 220rwkw on 16psi on dyno but never saw the sheet for proof

Atm running 12 - 14 psi daily comes on full boost at 4000rpm and pulls like a train :D

Just wondering whats next? inlet or exhaust manifold or should I save for the RB25DET?

Every opinion welcome

get a z32 afm and have it the ecu remapped. run 17psi and you will have a nice quick r32. also replace that boost controller with a turbotech boost controller for faster spool and better boost holding.

you could also get cam gears and have them set up.

power fc.... or nistune asap

unless the mines ecu was mapped for EXACTLY those mods then you are playing a very dangerous game!

i'd also go an ebc for faster and better boost holding

+1 on the ebc too

remap that ECU, I believe that mines ecu is tuned for japanese fuel, it won't do any good on our crappy 98ron fuel and get a proper boost controller, that turbosmart thingo is only good for boost spikes.

If you're on a budget go buy a turbotech ball bearing valve, and sell that turbosmart junk and make a profit.

the mines ecu will be tuned for whatever mods were on the car when in japan... and it will be a really old tune aswell...

run low boost... then get a real ecu or a tune :P

2530 turbo gets about 230 max kw so theres no point spending 1000 plus for 10 more kw.

keep the 2530, Bosch 044, Hybrid front mount, exhaust and sell the rest like GTR injectors etc and save for a RB25, unless you want to upgrade to a bigger turbo because 2530 wont get much more.

you'll get 230rwkw or so out of that setup when you get an ecu and an ebc and a tune.

dont bother with the 25 - it'll cost way more than its worth seeing as you can only pick up another 50rwkw or so on the stock bottom end anyway... an you might be buying someone else's problems....

a built engine is worth it... but then your gonna be looking at COIN

...

my advice...

stick with what you have... get an ecu and an ebc. get suspension (coilovers, camber, castor, pineapples, sway's) and enjoy the living hell outta it

I cant agree more!

power fc and ebc sounds like the go, the ecu it has atm must be tuned fairly rich, it blows a fair bit of black smoke when on full boost and on start up so hopefully it will be alright on 12psi.

only reason i want an rb25 is for bottom end :(

cheers for the input :)

For a cheap good option get a remap $200ish+dyno (which is almost as good as a powerfc, just can't keep an playing with it), and the turbotech boost controller is way better than the boostee, and only cost $30-$40. Should be good for a more responsive 230RWKW :P

the rb20 injectors max out at 200kw (like mine are currently). For any power above that, GTR injectors are a must and its evident with his 220kw so far.

Depending on where you live, get a turbotech bleed valve and a remap from CEF11E.

You could also get adjustable cams to improve the curve, not so much power gain but could result in a better low-midrange.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
