nah only 2 wires scotty.

i bet they did the resistor trick

$200 sounds expensive for the resistor trick.... Didn't work on mine when I tried tho. I still have to try the airbag module that you sent me Iain; fingers crossed.

need to try this...sick of having my airbag light on and potentially carking it...

It does sound expensive. But it does work. I've got a resistor on my drivers side, and the module on the passenger side. It definitely works though - no illuminated lights over here :)

That's great it worked for you, and I was hoping for the same result but no such luck. My resistors cost $0 - the lady at Jaycar just gave them to me, so I had nothing to lose.

It is well worth a try for anyone with the cursed flashing light.....

What was the resistance you used Dunc?

Theyre unfortunately heat shrunk/boxed in - it was fitted before I bought the car. I'll see if I can remember to take it apart in a couple of weeks when I get back to Australia and let you know

need the seat replaced. already done one in a PM35. there is a airbag ram in the base of the seat and the explosive device has died.

its nothing to do with the diagnostic routine you guys are doing and in fact it renders half the system useless when in fault mode. not the sort of thing you want when you smack something at speed.

if i could be of anyhelp if these codes im from nz and am a auto electrician and have had a few of these through it isnt the seat itself that fails unless the part is missing by pass the plug as there is high resistance in the plug by pass it under the seat and hey presto no more problems

Ok, They found a pin backed out on a connector under the passenger seat and the code was "circuit in passenger seat module", 650kms so far and light hasn't come back on. But I am skeptical that has fixed the fault and think the light will come back on as soon as I am out of warranty haha.......Thoughts?

i rekon youll be fine

if they pushed the pin back into the plug, it shouldnt come out again unless for any reason its removed.........

First they just reset the code and couldn't get the light to come back on, on road test. Then they put a passenger in it and roadtested (joyride maybe?pinch.gif ) and then got the light to come back on.

Fingers crossed

sounds like a loose connection

there are plugs under the seats, one above the glovebox (there is a fold down partition in the top) and the plug behind the steering wheel

i rekon one is loose or dirty. also in the middle of the car is the SRS unit. check all the plugs. youll need to remove the centre console to get to it.

Ok, so this might be coincidence but I think I've had a win with my airbag light. It has been flashing for about two weeks since I went to the Sakura picnic. I tried the reset procedure a few times but with no success, then this morning after my daughter complained she had no room for her legs I tilted the seat forward a touch. After I had dropped her off I started the car and airbag light gone! Now I remember at the picnic laying the seat fully back to have a kip in the afternoon and I'm pretty sure the light started when I left. I see a lot of talk about the problem being with the airbag seat rams? Am I on to something here or did I just get lucky? When was the last time you put your seat through it's full range of motion? Might be worth a try.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
