i was suprised myself when they gave me the quote, every other company wouldnt even bother quoting for me. But thats what just cars has insured me for. Only thing is my excess is pretty high but im happy to deal with that if anything ever happens

Eh, either way I'm sticking with my Shannons with $28K agreed at $1250/yr.

Thats a bit rough, one of my mates has a 300kw turbo rotary 929 sedan thats only 900kg insured for 20k and only pays $600 a year, another mate has a mazda 1600 ute with a turbo gas rotary in it insured for $17k for $520 a year.

Should really try and get that quote adjusted.

Yeah i will vouch for Shannons.

Recently just switched from Just Car,

Shannons quote came in at slightly more but i now have an agreed value of 32k compared to the 18k or so market value from Just Car.

Came in at $1457.93 with

$500.00 excess + $400.00 for me being under 25

Extremely happy and found them to be very helpful and great to deal with over the phone.

how the hell did you get an agreed value of that much??

far out, i should probably look at switching over. but i thought that for the first year you cannot make a claim?

thats what made just car a little more appealing.

i gotta get a higher agreed value, i got a rebuild and much more spent on my car than $17k

its easily cost me over $35k incl. purchase for everything i've got on it.

how did shannons go when it came to letting them know of mods?

Im 26 with a R33 GTR

Just got rid of justcar insurance. Premium was around $2100.

Access was $2400 if i wanted to claim, car theft was another $700 for $26500 cover

Shannons $500 access is way better. Premium still comes in at $2200 for $26500 cover

No extra if i wanted to pay quarterly or monthly.

Premium will be adjusted by 10% when i get my cams license.

Would be worth giving them a call man,

I got a flyer for Shannons at the Kadina car show.

Filled out my details and current insurer etc, then it asked for how much i wanted it covered for.

I went through my receipt book and looked at some GTRs on the net and 32k seemed reasonable enough to replace my car if something were to happen.

Got a phone call about a week later and spoke with the guy about it all and listed pretty much everything i have done to the car etc etc,

he ended up doing the policy there and then and i think it was listed as being "medium" modified.

But yeah well worth the switch imo, especially with all the work yours has on it.

well for once Just Cars gave me a wicked policy on the 33......at the autosalon show i was rather impressed with the discount and what they covered me for.......very very happy with them and now to cancel the shannons policy today :)

Krishy,

Just pray you never have to claim with them to get your car repaired as the repairers they use are rather ordinary.

i got told that i could go to the repairer of my choice

i got told that i could go to the repairer of my choice

What happens is that they nominate their preferred repairer and let you choose your own. Whoever has the "better" quote on the day gets the job. If you don't nominate your own repairer, they will choose two preferred for you and use the "better" quote.

Exactly as Norm said.

When i had and accident i had the same process, had to get a quote from one of their qualified repairers and the place i wanted my car to get repaired at.

Luckily the place i wanted to get it done at was cheaper.

Im sure the dude I spoke to said the process was to get two quotes from their preferred repairers, and I can get a third from one of my choice - and if my quote was between the other two it'd be fine.

My mate had his car with Shannon's.

It was stollen and torched and he got his claim, but only after they had a PI on him for a month, then had to wait for his payment for another month or so and now they say that they will never insure him again. Wasn't anything dodgy and the PI said everything was legit.

I've said it in here god know's how many time's but Wesfarmers is the best insurence company I've been with and my parents are with them too and also agree.

I had nearly 5k damage to my old 32 from some kent's trying to break into it. They said that I need to get 2 quotes from 2 different places and I pick which place that I wanted my car at (not them)

Also, they cleared the costs through the crash shop on the spot with their guy and repairs started straight away! Also, in the time it took me to go around and get the quotes, they paid for the door handle to get fixed on my car so I could keep using it till I get the rest of the car fixed.

Also offered free rental car to me for the time of the car being fixed, but I got one from the crash shop anyways.

On top of all this. I was only 17 when I got my insurence with them, and only changed me $700 full comp with a $500 excess. After I claimed I thought it would go up and it didn't. The next year it went to $498 and $400 excess.

The more shit you got insured with them the better it will all work out for you.

This is their site steve http://www.wfi.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/internet/wfi/

My parent's are the ones who signed everything up for me when I was living with them a few years ago and when I got my own place I just transfered all the details of mine over.

Best bet is to call up and speak to someone as you'll get the best result that way.

    • The HG high flow is excellent, and costs about the $$ you're talking about. But it, and probably every other highflow, uses a diffeent core than the original turo, and the original Hitatchi core is quite long. So, I think it is inevitable that there is likely no such thing as a highflow that just "bolts on" with no other effort required. And the same is likely true for HG's outright replacement "bolt on" turbos (the ATR things). And the same is likely true for anything similar from elsewhere. I have no idea if the cheap Chinese/Taiwanese complete turbos from eBay/Temu/etc are as bolt on as they claim. I mean, they claim the bolt onto the NAs as well as the turbos, and we know that can't be "bolt on". But it wouldn't matter because I'm not buying a $169 4 psi turbo for anything other than a paddock basher.
    • Bummer...yeah i "need" something to "ease" up the work and for my driving it would be enough.    Iam counting the tune "without" turbo. I do not mean "cheap" like something from Temu around 200 USD, "Cheap" is something around 1000 USD?
    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
