Now that you have had the DMS suspension for a while...

What is your impression?

I've not driven the car for a month as I've been away so no further feedback to give. It will be interesting driving it again with a month break. I'll post up if there is anything to report.

Well I've still hardly driven it but my initial impression was it was still a little too hard for my journey to work. I've been at Techsport this morning and they took me through how to adjust the set up. Very simple once shown. We took the bump settng from 15 (tarmac rally setting) to 20 (softest). We left the rebound on 1 (0 softest, 3 the hardest). The difference is massive. The car rides like a limo, but lacks the lovely controlled feel of the 15 setting. It's still more than enough for suburban driving and for Sunday drives and the track it's no more than a careful half hour of adjustment to set things up for higher speeds.

I'm happier than ever with my choice of adjustable suspension, and the support that's come along with them. I'll keep fiddling with the settings and post up any results. The pity is I don't drive it enough......

Well I'm off to the track this weekend and will be adjusting the suspension to see what difference the settings make in this environment. Any suggestions about how to progress from a point of view of softer to harder on both bump and rebound and perhaps how these relate to each other i.e. I'm it's not recommended to have the slowest rebound with the fastest bump etc.

I'm thinking full soft bump, to medium to near to full hard (kersnip) with the rebound following 'to suit'. I'm going to do large adjustments to the bump as I suspect a couple of clicks (out of 21) will not really be felt (by my ass anyway).

Any suggestions appreciated. I'll probably ring DMS and ask them for their opinion too.

EDIT. DMS say to have it on 12 for bump and 1 for rebound. Progress bump by 2 clicks at a time and leave rebound alone. Said 12 was good for the dry and 14-15 good for the wet (getting softer. The softest is 20). If you're at full hard on the bump he said you need harder springs as body roll should be mostly controlled by this and not the damper. Hopefully I'll not find that happens.

Well I never adjusted the suspension as it was a very wet and cold day and it seemed sticking with the softer setting was most prudent.

First time on the track with the DMS fitted and I was really happy. Sandown has some nasty bumps coming onto the main straight and a fairly large dip just prior to the braking point for turn 1 and I was really impressed with the compliance and control in these areas. Understeer was really under control and oversteer only happened if you applied the throttle and was very controlable (your choice). Body roll was pretty respectable as judged by the pit lane. I was keeping pace with a 997 GT3 and a few other good cars so I'll assume my overall speed wasn't too bad (no timing). I did get convincingly munched by an R35 GTR though...

Never heard no rumours..... The car has been locked in my garage since last Nov due to a large house renovation that blocked the driveway. I'm recently back in the house and about a week away from getting her out. It'll be interesting to drive her again as I've driven my other 32 GTR daily for the last 7-8 months and now know her intimately. She runs overly low and stiff Jap Spec Tein SS so the comparison will be interesting.

Care to elaborate on the reported issues with the DMS product?

I have heard great things from the rally world, but on this forum(and this forum only) people whisper of reliability issues, yet I have never seen anyone post up saying their DMS have failed.

Um, I'm essentially looking for some coilovers and for them to be installed and set up correctly. Unusually, I've hit a brick wall with my preferred GTR fettler.........They reckon the stuff I need is 'very hard to get hold of' and it might just be a little too hard......Frustrating.

So, I'm asking for a recommendation of a suspension specialist or GTR workshop that will do this for me. Also, anyone who knows their shit about how to set up an R32 GTR, any advice or help you can offer would be gratefully received.

I've got the following already

Adjustable swaybars

Adj castor and front camber

Most bushes replaced

Cheers.

ive got the gtr coilovers if u need it! i just change mine to a aftermarket one 0431762826 giv a call if u want it.

    • don't do. Fricken typos. Make me look like the sheeple.
    • I could show you guys photos of wrap having been removed properly, and where the wrap was removed, paint underneath is perfect. Sections of the vehicle didn't have wrap on it, and in those areas, the paint work is destroyed because of how long it had been sitting in the hot QLD sun for many many many years. Wrap even still looked decent. Good quality wrap, and removing it properly shouldn't rip off the paint work, unless the paintwork was already shot to pieces before hand.
    • Any write ups on replacing the window motor?  I've never messed with them (or window regulators) before.   Ever since I've had the car, the driver window would roll down just fine, but most often I'd have the try a few times to get it to go up.  As soon as it started to go up, it always goes up smoothly and quietly.  Seemed like a bad switch.  But now, its stuck in the fully down position and won't come back up.  I get =12/-12V coming out of the relay/amp when pressing the switch up/down.  So the switch and amp are working.  Just a bad motor.  I've also applied 12V directly to the motor and nada.   Any help on replacing the motor?  Can the glass and regulator stay in, and only replace the motor?  Or not possible?  Thanks!!!
    • You are wrong. That's just Whiteline going along with the incorrect slanguage of the sheeple userbase. They are only correctly known as anti-roll bars. They are only incorrectly known as swaybars. They do do anything to prevent "sway". The swaybars that are fitted to trailler hitches do prevent sway. In the trailer. And they do not look like anti-roll bars. So, take your incorrect infopinion away.
