']wats the max power u can get from a stock turbo FJ? just curious.

and also wat management systems are you guys running? do u have seperate coils rather than sticking with dizzy n shit? (on FJ20s if ne1 has em!)

wolf 3D are good for the fj, they could also be able to provide a simple plug in and play system for you now, $1500+ tuning..

has anyone found info on r30s on any other forums?

There was some discussion on Skylines Downunder until the KIWI's got all funny.

Probably because it is their forum, but were out numbered by aussies, on all forum topics excluding NZ.

But absolutely nothing like this thread.

And there was a Nissan Skyline - Paul Newman sales publication on ebay the other day, that I think I beat crimmo to. By the sounds of the advert, it may have some interesting info in it that I will post.

Things like "wind tunnel tests" etc, on all 1983 > R30 models including DR's & HR2000GT ES & 4 dr's & Hatch 2000GT E etc.

1.  Mobil 75W/90 full synthetic is the oil. It performs as well as Royal Purple, Penrite, Castrol etc and is readily available for top up when necessary.

2.  My R200 4.1:1 is a mechanical CUSCO centre LSD with 80 odd lb preload and I have a Nissan 3.9:1 as a spare.

3.  No! the car is not on the road at present, but as soon as it is I'm heading your way sort of, got to see a mate on The Gold Coast.

1.Sounds good.

2.Good to know,as I'm sure the R32> R200's with the viscous lsd wouldn't need the same spec oil as the early mech R200's.I've ben wanting to confirm a good mech lsd oil with someone who actually has one,not a sales person who thinks an HR31 coupe is a fancy Pintara.

3.Any estimates on when it will be? You'll have to stop over in Port Macquarie on your way...you know,stop,revive,survive.....and so I can check out the '30!

I had an EMS QI-4 fuel and ignition ecu running mine.Used the stock FJ dizzy. The EMS was good, could work with several factory pick-up systems.

I'd like to go multi-coil in the future though...

Only problem with the wolf that i know of with the FJ dizzy is u have to get it modified...Bit of hassle for someone like me in SA where if i get defected then i have to try to find a standard FJ dizzy...I am considering going for the EMS 8860 seems like a good piece of equiopment!!

Ghostrider i beleive that u might've beaten Crimmo to that, i was talkin to him last week and he was telling me about that book seems like its quite a handy piece of gear to aquire!!

Yeah the 8860 sound as good as a Motec on paper, and you couldn't complain at $1600.....

If you try getting in touch with EFI Hardware www.efihardware.com they have a programmable ECU (HAWK) and has been working on plug & play systems.

The Hawk has had some pretty good reviews from Zoom when they last did a comparison.

Cost is only $1300.00 or there abouts, but don't know if anyone does them in Adelaide. They seem to be Haltec mad in Adelaide.

Wolf do the V4 Plug & Play ECU which is $1395 for the ECU itself then install and tuning take it to around $2200 ready to drive away. but then i think u have the cost of the multi coil setup added to that so it could get pretty expensive :D

but todd off these forums with white dr30 here in perth is happy with his he is running Wolf V4 with multi coils and making 360 odd rwhp quite happily!

i was hoping for a cheaper sortof alternative like microtech or something is all. wondering if anyone has gone that way. i only earn 200 a week doing nightfill so was hopin there mite be a cheaper one that'd do the trick! that EMS 8860 i guess is $1600 just for the ECU, then tuning install etc would run it out a few hundreed more expensive that the Wolf V4 p&p i guess.

ah well i dont have 2k+ for an ECU atm neway, but i guess it seems Wolf V4 is gona be the way to go in the end :) :) better hope santa brings me a big wad of cash this year haha

Yeah thats what i rekon to!! My mate is currently having it setup on his series 4 and its a pretty wild motor in there so once thats all done then i shall decide, but so far im impressed with it all! :aroused:

Ghostrider : not everyone in adelaide is haltech mad, but the majority of people here are..If not then like PFC al depends on who u go to really, so many people deal with the same ecu's so its not like deepnds on the workshop u goto depends what ecu u use cause most of them will use 99% of ecu's available

.75 degrees sideways, just bought a r31 with an rb20det in it running a older wolf3D, version 3 i think, the bloke who had it before didn't know that there is a locking system that requires a pin number to start the car if active. my mate went to change the pin and the car wont start!!! had to sent the computer to sydney to get it changed to the new pin so it will work...poor bastart had the car for 24 hours then its been sitting there for the last 48 unable to be driven!

oh my mate ran a microtech DIGI 1 (or was that 2??) on his FJ20.

you can pickup alot of stuff second had cheap and on ebay and stuff, i know a few guys that have been doing so recently.

what ecu's out there are able to run in closed loop? i know my microtech doesn't :(

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
