WOW Dirtygarage you are amazing and if anyone didn't already know it I'm sure you'll start a thread telling them how amazing you are. As per usual you'll build a RB30 redesign the wheel in doing so then crow how great it is and expect all to forget how much in the past you've bagged them as they are a forklift motor.

I would have said something more along the lines of a BOAT motor the way them vl's dirve!!!

Oops shit Paul, Sorry haha we wouldnt want that now!

Andrew you mean the RPMGTR thread :)

Hey Steve, dont think it was race pace. Rhemac was the one i think

My RB30DET with a totally stock rb25 head, cams are stock as well. no mods no port jobs nothing makes full power by 3700rpm and it does not drop off all the way to red line.

Can you get a RB26 to have a flat power curve like this? if so.. show me.

There was also a mark99 here in SA that built an RB29 using an rb26 block, slightly destroked rb30 crank, forged rods and custom low pin height pistons.

Rev'd to 8.5k and made some awesome power. There's a dyno sheet laying around some where that was posted.

The rod angles are of concern but it has held together without any issues so it may be a moot point.

Something else to add to the fire with your rb30 boys..

rb30 block with rb26 crank... There was a post on here a while back from an engine shop down south! dig that up it had some pretty nice looking results!

Since rb30 and rb26 both have the same bore, wouldn't a rb30 block with a rb26 crank just be... a rb26?

Wow

yes. anyone heard of the hks "hi-deck"....albeit 2.8L

have a search on gtr.co.uk/forum dave, i remember seeing atleast 1 setup on there.

but form what i recall its like the kakimoto hi-deck where its a compression deck with liners

Bottom end first

But yes, I will take you up on your offer from that call

Everyone knows that big cams get the chicks Steve-o

I didn't know you liked doing the bottom end first still, i thought therapy fixed that? ... Zing

Throw away the little ones and put in the 280's.

I want to get rid of them

I don't know why people are so afraid of spending the money on a big head job :s

Selling 2 kidneys is not advised.

Would be better to throw the money at developing a new block.

A good head job is always the most satisfying way to 'blow' your cash.

PM me a price on the 280's Aaron...i might take them.

Thats an unfair advantage Guilt-Tripper...you tuned it!

Coming right up Sir Boost Alot

nope, rb30 block is taller by 38mm

Wouldn't that completely mess up the compression ratio's then? I'm still trying to get my head around how it would actually work, putting a rb26 crank into a rb30. The block is taller, yes, but doesn't that mean your going to run into problems because the rb26 crank will still have the same travel, even when its put into the rb30

Not too far of the mark

overall terms, your graph is flatter for a section, this one comes up a bit smoother

Do you have a larger pic of the graph for km/h and/or RPM to look at?

I see what you're saying now; if you 'blow' your cash -presumably a 'wad' of it or at least the cost of a good 'pearl necklace'- on a good RB26 head job you can't 'come' at or 'swallow' the idea of the RB30 being better, and suggest that anyone who thinks otherwise is being 'sucked in'.

Have I got that right?

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
