Again good work guys.

Does anyone have a simplified version of your legal rights when pulled over in Queensland? Or know which piece of legislation would have that information? And a list of does and don’ts with the twenty questions?

If I can get some spare time I will try look into this more.

This would be great to post up, keep a copy in your car. Either way we are all going to get pulled over for some reason.

Nismo Girl: your right, you can generally get the feel for a cop car tailing even at night, like a 6th sense.

Note the obvious patern. They are all Australian built cars.

If they try to race you, don't.

If you own a turbo skyline, you will beat them anyway.

When they get jap cars, then were in real trouble.

I heard yesterday that there is a 180sx on the gold coast that is a cop car. True or False?

How is it legal for them to videotape you? I find it hard to believe that it'd be legal if we were to follow one car for ages while viideo-taping them without their consent.

Hey Erin,

Do you think the number plates for the Magna are the same as this........ "Holden VY 'S' Commodore Sedan, Lime Green with the number plate 361 IAC"?

Does anybody know if cops swap the numberplates around when they renew regos on the cars?

You have to be really careful around any car you think is a cop car. Most highly ranked police officers (usually superintendent and above) are issued with police service vehicles. These are either a S pac brand new commodore or a Ford Fairmont Ghia.

All cop cars have a little sticker in the bottom right hand corner of the window. It's a white sticker with a Q and a V in green and a border of green.

Just to let you know there's no such thing as cop or "D" mags anymore they got rid of them because people were looking out for them.

Over this year and last year they have been working to make the cars a lot harder to notice, so things like CD arials etc probabbly won't be on cars for much longer.

Also I've never heard of WRX cop cars ever being in QLD, I know NSW and VIC tried them out but they took them off the road after 10 months, because their speed check thing in the car didn't work correctly and they had to give heaps of people back the money they had taken in fines.

A cop car can't pull you over in front of you because they have to make a speedo check from the cop car, this is done for court.

So if you were doing 110 in a 100 zone, they would have to follow you for so long to make the speedo check then they can pull you over the cop cars keep a record of the speeds they have been doing.

That's one way of getting out of a fine, because if it's found that they weren't travelling at a proper speed etc then the fine could be dismissed.

Also a normal cop car can only do 170Klms at the max before they have to drop of because the lights cause too much drag in undercover cop cars not sure.

that's everything I've heard from a guy whose brother works as a cop in the roma st cop shop.

    • Agreed with the rest. Also at least based on my own research, there are no readily available stock or close-to-stock RB20Neo maps that you could download and use as a base were you to buy a complete standalone ECU, and the regular 20DET maps don't really work well so you'd need to take it to a tuner if you have no experience. I installed an AEM V2 on my 20Neo+T and had lots of headaches until I got it to run and idle properly but I've yet to remap it fully. You have to start building up your timing and fuel maps entirely from the ground up; even the ones for a 25 didn't work at all.
    • Got some decent progress after work yesterday and also today. Got the ECU all wired and passenger side interior all back together. Kept the wiring up nice and high to avoid people standing on it. Got the surge tank relays rewired and tidied up the pump wiring and cut a hole to bring the cables through.  I found a spare USB cable I had lying around so I decided to cut it up and see if I could use it for my CAN 1 bus. Turned out one of the pins I needed was to the shield of the cable so i cut it up and desoldered it and resoldered to the correct pins.  Had the issue with the powersteering hose hitting the A/C compressor and fan shroud. I pulled the bracket off and modified it to remove the front mounting point which now clears it all. Will keep an eye on it to see if theres any signs of fouling once it's up and running.
    • That's some good input mate. Nice.
    • So today I went well outside my comfort zone (again) to replace my valve cover gasket.  I have had a big leak over the exhaust leading to a lot of smoke and smell every time I drove it. The leak was in the rear driver's corner.  The job wasn't hard as such, just a bit finicky and time consuming.  The old gasket was rock hard and broken right where the leak was.  The leaky corner had so much sitting oil in it.  The good news to my amateur eyes was no buildup or sludge under the cover. It all looked fairly nice in there.   I haven't started it yet. I ran out of light and body when putting the coils and injector loom back in. Probs only 30min left for the morning.  I was so nervous putting the cover back on, I must have lifted it 5 times to make sure the gasket was still seated properly. God it's going to be nice to be leak free and not make other traffic light queuers think my car is about to explode.
