not worried about future upgrades because if/when that is done I'll get the whole car rewired professionally anyway .. I'm just wondering the this sort of kit would be noisy etc

Looking at the seller's feedback for these wiring kits they're all positive it seems ppl saying great quality kit and whatnot. Worth a try I reckon

You'll probably find that even if it states that its an 8Ga kit they'll spin a heap of silver in, being that silver is cheaper than copper, but is also an inferior conductor of electricity, and if it has a low strand count it wont reject noise as well as something with a high count.

if you really must buy a cheap wiring kit, without knowing real specs on your amplifier, I'd buy a US2CH8N wiring kit from your local autobarn. usually about $59, but you can always ask nicely for a discount.

Pablo101 i'll refer you to my earlier comment in stating that the quality of the ebay cable is unknown and probably very poor. Most of my experience with such kits has been that they are a terrible conductor, and usually lead to more problems, like damage to your amplifiers or subwoofers due to clipping from a lack of voltage, or noise due to poor rca's.

REMEMBER - It's not often ebay offers something which is good and cheap, usually its cheap and nasty, choose where to spend your money on a sound system wisely

BTW dont assume what you have is fantastic until you have tried all the alternatives. Especially someone claiming that its a "3400 Watt" kit. If thats an RMS value, its physically impossible for that cable to handle that much current, you would need at least 2 0ga cables of GOOD quality material to handle that sort of power reliably.

Delta Force - that wire is a remote wire, not a ground wire. Dont use it, run a separate wire for your remote, and make sure its rated to 10-15 amps. If you're going to be running more than 2 amplifiers, you may want to consider using a relay as well.

someof the RCAs have a ground wire sticking out of them.. even one of the kits on Ebay I saw had it. Not all kits on ebay are that cheap and nasty like this Kicker 1/0 Gage kit currently at $80 or so http://cgi.ebay.com.au/kicker-1-0-gauge-wi...%3A1%7C294%3A50

it's not a ground wire champ, ready my post. why would you want a ground wire? the outer sheath of the RCA is already ground. it's remote, to turn the amplifier on.

Can you be sure its a genuine kicker kit? Are you sure you can fit 0ga in your car and amplifiers? its big cable.

look I'm happy to admit I dont know jack shit about wiring ... but I know what I've read/seen, there was even a thread here on SAU and someone recommended the same thing for the RCAs to get better earth..

I'll try and find one on ebay which has it...and no, it's got nothing to do with remote power for the amp.

eg. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AUDIOPIPE-PK1500X-A...%3A2%7C294%3A50

17FT (5METRES) BLUE 2RCA TO 2RCA FLYLEAD / SIGNAL LEAD (CONNECTS FROM AMP TO HEADUNIT)

RCA LEAD HAS EARTH LEAD TO REDUCE POTENTIAL GROUND LOOP PROBLEMS

I've seen similar on another auction but I think it has ended now ..had a little earth wire sticking out of the RCA cable near the connectors..

and unless you're trying to be a stupid bogan and put a sub in a 1970 hq holden, or using a cheap POS amp or head unit, its not going to do anything. if your wiring is correct, it's not going to make a difference.

also, you wouldnt use that wire because it could induce noise, so just dont worry about it, it does nothing.

it's also just a case of the person who put the item having no idea whatsoever about wiring, because that wire on the rca is ment for remote signal, not for earthing.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
