Well done mate...

What I love about your car is that it still looks awesome and doesn't look like a stripped down drag GTR. Your car is one of the best looking R32's on this forum, and it runs mid 8's... Unbelievable!

awesome car

don't know if I missed it somewhere but have you got all lexan windows, carbon doors, carbon boot and all the other light weight gear on it yet?

Yeah have only done a few changes since Jambo last put it has well and truly paid off.

- Removed old fuel system which was a 40L Tank + 5L Surge Tank and the 5 x Bosch 044 Pumps all mounted in the boot and changed it to a mechanical Aeromotive Fuel Pump mounted on the back of the Peterson dry sump pump + made a custom 13L Fuel Tank mounted above that radiator.

- Changed out the stock steel Brakes in Favour for full set of Carbon Fibre Strange Drag Brakes (courtesy of fellow SAU member 9krpm).

- Swapped Steel doors for carbon fibre ones with Lexan windows.

- Upgraded single Diest Parachute to twin Stroud Parachutes

- Replaced 4" Stainless Exhaust System with a 4" Titanium Side Pipe.

- Rebuilt the Broken PPG Dogbox.

That is all we done so far but we still have plenty more mods to do like carbon boot, strip rest of interior etc. But my brother and I are very confident we can get the car into the 8.3 - 8.1 sec bracket with a H Pattern box that will make us the fastest radial GTR in the world then :woot: .

Engine has a little bit more power left in it with E85, but will be going to methanol soon (more safety margin). We are still perfecting the Launch control and ignition cut parameters aswell. But we are gonna try our hardest to get this car into the 7sec bracket with the manual box on Radial tyres. But if the gearbox fails again there is a fair chance a Liberty Air shifted Tranny will be going in which will put us into a 7sec pass pretty easily.

Really looking forward to this season of drag racing we are already of to an above expectation start. ;)

Ben,

I will try and make it to Willowbank this year for Jambo.

Fantastic achieve again mate

BTW, hope you can keep that H pattern dog box and run even quicker :w00t:

Would be great to but some faces to these names ;) , as for the gearbox I pulled the magnetic bung out of it on Saturday, had a few little chunks of metal on it, I'm not too concerned about it at this stage the clutch has to come out soon for a rebuild I will pull the box apart then for inspection.

Here is my favourite pic.

Car has been laying dormant for a few months, but a few new mods have been done to the car since its last outing. We have the Slamfest at Benaraby Raceway Next weekend, aiming for the impossible as per usual. Our goal is to run 8.3 - 8.1 sec pass with the new modifications done. To achieve this feat will be crazy and will cement us firmly as the fastest radial GTR in the world by far. Can we do it? Can't wait to find out and see.

You mowed the grass and pulled the weeds :P

Car is lookin great. So new wing and stay brackets and car appears to be sitting up little higher than last time (I think its just perception though). Thats it.

Looking really good Ben. Cant wait to hear how it goes at Slamfest :turned:

Just took the car off the hoist, the shocks probably not sitting in there ideal spot, we haven't touched the Shock height but have noticed that the rear Dampners where set to fully hard which I think is fully clockwise, does anyone know which way for certain is the softest setting on a tein shock?

Ben, i don't suppose you'll be making an appearance at Palmyra this Friday night for TNT?

Would love to see the GTR again on the track, much better than the usual p platers in commodores.

Nah Sean the car is out of action, getting some more work done to the engine. It should be ready for Brisbane Jamboree in September.

Hi to all

All the excitement is building up, not long now till Brisbane Jamboree. We are really looking forward to this years event, apparently there some other competitors coming to specifically to stop us from getting the next world record, I won't name names but I am looking forward to some good competition. The engine has just gone though another lot of upgrades and the chassis has had more weight taken out. Not a great deal of weight but every kilo counts. Engine HP has been increased a great deal and the clutch specially modified by Doug at NPC to give us more bite in the top end to get the MPH up. Our top end MPH is where we are losing ground need more grunt and the clutch was slipping up top costing us big time. If the gearbox can handle the punishment we are estimating a very low 8 sec pass and possibly a 7sec pass on the street radial tyres. This is what we are hoping for ....fingers crossed drag racing can be brutal. Would love to share the new upgrades list but with all these other fast GTR's coming out of the wood work getting closer to our time's, it's time to keep something's to ourselves ;) .

If any fellow SAU members are wondering around the pits, don't be shy, come have a chat, I would like to but some names to faces.

Cheers

Benny

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
    • Skyline R33 Series 2 sedan tail lights in excellent condition. These are becoming harder to find, especially in this state.    BOTH SETS ARE IN FANTASTIC CONDITION (REFER TO PHOTOS)    ✅ No broken covers or cracks ✅ Lenses are in flawless condition ✅ All rear mounting lugs intact ✅ Comes complete as pictured ✅ Perfect for restoration, replacement, or upgrade   These lights are ready to go, no surprises just quality OEM parts.   These are definitely one of the better sets we have seen in a while. With minimal wear and tear they will come as you see. Bear in mind they are not brand new they are almost 30 years old now. • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
