they look a bit like a particular cheapo brand wheel which is known for failure under high heat/stress situations. I think they are "ANZ" brand... there was a thread about them about 2 years ago. Some guy with a R32 GTSt drifter had one fail. Basically the spokes snap off at the weak point where they join the hub.. I see them around on silvias and wrx's sometimes, makes me cringe.

Edit: found the ones i was thinking of, ANZ Mak 6!

I have heard stories of the jap lightweight rims cracking and/or breaking due to the fact that they place some much emphasis on the weight and less on the structure, cant remember what brand it was but a tyre place i use to deliver to actually had one that had broken a spoke off and cracked the whole outer rim.

doubt that would happen with a big name jap brand wheel without hitting something. forged magnesium wheels are light and also quite strong. there's a difference in design, materials, and manufacturing between top quality light-weight forged japanese wheel (i.e. RAYS engineering) vs. cheap knock off copies.

    • Definitely a hearty eater when we go out, I consider these meals my cheat day as I've been watching my calories in and calories out pretty hard since my little fun size stroke, I've gone from a fat boy of 89 Kg, I'm only 165cm tall/short, down to a almost semi lean 73 Kg over the last few years, I'm currently around 17% body fat which my doctor is very happy with, but, my goal is to slowly get down to and maintain 15%,so yeah, I want all of the protein, carbs, fats and sugars when I go out for a binge
    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater

    • Going by the intake & injectors I'd be guessing it's a DE, check the head casting number, should be 5L8 on a DET, 5L7 I think is the DE number.
