Right guys this is what i need. I have the spacer /z-tube / k&n drop in filter. I need those installed. I also havent done any kind of a service on my car and its nearly at 70,000. I can supply the parts unless you can get them cheaper . All i need is some one who knows our cars and cares about our cars to install everything i have.

Im in sydney and can travel to your door. Not sure how long it would take but i guess if u have the right tool and enjoy working under the hood this is for you.

Personally i spill the oil when trying to top it up so its not my field.

Im willing to pay so PM your quotes and il get back to ya.

The drop in filter you can do yourself. It's a 2 second job to unclip and remove one, and fit the other. Everything else is also quite easy, but I wouldn't trust myself to do it since I'm useless with tools.

Try The Engine Whisperer. Andrew's done a bit of work to my Z33 in the past (he fitted the catback exhaust and the Popcharger) and he's very good mechanically.

If I remember correctly manda lives down south. If you want a workshop close by, try IS Motor Racing in Rockdale. They used to look after the Auto Salon 350Z, and I know they've got quite a few Z/V customers now. Indy's got a pretty good rep as a mechanic.

Otherwise, Pro Concept for sure. Call Joshua - its easier than emailing him.

i wouldnt have an idea about the price, tho however no doubt he can do the job for you.

always call him, because he is quite busy.

Spoke to josh today at pro concept. Very nice guy easy to talk to. I was suprised at the prices he quoted me.

He quoted $190-$260 for a minor service depending on the oil

And for the install for the spacer / filter / z-tube was $120

So all up under $400 for everything i guess thats not too bad for a good professional job.

Also any minor service includes a free ecu scan so i get that too.

ecu scan?? you mean for error codes? lucky i can do that myself now with my scaner..

as for the filter and z tube that would be really straight forward...

No offence but the air filter replacement on a V is not a 2 second job. I thought so too at the beginning but it involves removing the whole air box before being able to replace the panel filter.

If you are doing the filter replacement, the Z tube can be installed at the same time since you have got everything out already.

Seriously? On a 350Z you just unclip the holder and pull the panel filter out with it. Having to pull the entire airbox out is some seriously bad design.

Is the Infiniti setup the same as the Nissan one?

Aren't those 2 clips on the middle of the airbox (between the "Power Duct" and the lowest arrow) all you need to pull open to replace a panel filter?

I'll have to watch the vid later - no access to YouTube from here.

Setup looks identical to the V and has those clips too but you won't be able to retrieve the filter until you have removed the airbox. Maybe you should go to your Z and try removing the filter. If you are not back in 2secs we'll understand :)

I've got a pod filter on the car now.

To pull out the stock panel filter element was a case of undoing those 2 lips, and yanking the holder out.

I just watched the video. Wow. That is disgustingly bad design. How can Nissan make a car that's that hard to service? Especially considering the Z33's airbox is nothing like that?

In the Z33 there's no need to remove the airbox from the car. I can't find any photos of the stock Z33 airbox to illustrate, but here's an exploded part diagram:

Part (2) (the holder) keeps the filter in place, and has 2 clips on the top. You leave the airbox in the car, undo the clips, grab the handle between the two clips, and pull the holder out of the box.

For people looking at retaining stock airboxes in their V35 and retaining a drop-in panel filter, I'd look and see if Z33 ones fit. It'll make the job of servicing it easier, if nothiing else.

    • Just planning to have the wiring neat and hide as much as possible.
    • The sodium acetate, mixed with citric acid, doesn't actually buffer each other. Interestingly though, if you used Sodium Acetate, and acetic acid, THAT becomes a buffer solution. Additionally, a weak acid that can attack a metal, is still a weak acid that can attack a metal. If you don't neutralise it, and wash it off, it's going to be able to keep attacking. It works the same way when battery acid dries, get that stuff somewhere, and then it gets wet, and off it goes again breaking things down. There's a reason why people prefer a weak acid, and it's because they want TIME to be able to be on their side. IE, DIY guys are happy to leave some mild steel in vinegar for 24 hours to get mill scale off. However, if you want to do it chemically in industry, you grab the muriatic acid. If you want to do it quicker at home, go for the acetic acid if you don't want muriatic around. At the end of the day, look at the above thumbnail, as it proves what I said in the earlier post, you can clean that fuel tank up all you want with the solution, but the rust that has now been removed was once the metal of the fuel tank. So how thin in spots is your fuel tank getting? If the magazine on the left, is the actual same magazine as on the right, you'll notice it even introduces more holes... Well, rust removal in general actually does that. The fuel tank isn't very thick. So, I'll state again, look to replace the tank, replace the fuel hanger, and pump, work out how the rust and shit is making it past the fuel filter, and getting into the injectors. That is the real problem. If the fuel filter were doing its job, the injectors wouldn't be blocked.
    • Despite having minimal clothing because of the hot weather right now, I did have rubber gloves and safety glasses on just in-case for most of the time. Yes, I was scrubbing with my gloves on before, but brushing with a brush removes the remaining rust. To neutralize, I was thinking distilled water and baking soda, or do you think that would be overkill?
    • You can probably scrub the rust with a toothbrush or something. After you get the rust off flush well with water to neutralize and you will probably want to also use a fuel tank sealer to keep it from rusting again.
    • The sodium citrate solution is designed to buffer the citric acid to keep it from attacking metal quite so much, the guy that came up with that recipe did a ton of testing on how much metal loss occurs over time and it's nothing crazy unless you forget about it for months:
