Sau Nsw Oran Park South Track Driver Training Day

Recommended Posts

Ok, so just got an update on the kid that got taken to hospital from the Go Karting that was going on on the North Track.

Had the kid been wearing a cheaper helmet, he would have died.

He has broken his cheek bone in 5 places

Broken Jaw as well.

He was in a coma, and they are removing the drain plug from his brain today.

They are unsure if permanent damage has been sustained.

One of the girls i work with, her cousin was racing in the go karts.

I'll keep updating as I hear.

But wishing him a speedy recovery.

Hey people, I was @ the race watching the whole thing as I went to help my mate (his son Stefan finished second in the rookie class as this was NSW title race)

This kid Ryan 11yo, from QLD the latest according to my mate he is going to make it fine, However still more tests to be done.

It did look bad as he was coming down the straight missed a turn clipped the cone and kart fliped to left side when he made an impact with a conrete wall at end of the grass hill and they red flegged the race immidiately.

All the boys were taking the accident really bad as they made friends during this 5 day meet, My mate son was crying when he herd what happen.

He 's now buying top of the range helmet/neck brace as well.

I was there to see you all and I must say all the cars looked and sounded great and some of you are real dare devils taking that left hander after straight.

My boy loved Duncans car and other yellow 32gtr awsome machine.

I was going to bring my baby as well but radiator top tank intake snapped of last saturday so getting new alloy one this weekend.

See you next track day!!!

Dave

I hope someone got a vid of that massive lockup of the white silvia (?) headed straight for the tire wall.

LOL....that was me!!! It was the first lap that day that I really got some speed out of the corner onto the straight and completely forgot that my brake booster was adjusted days before and that new braided brake lines had just been fitted, so I did what I normally do and that was push the brake pedal really hard to get the brakes to apply (I used to have to push the brake pedal in really far before the brakes would work!!!) and that was the result......MASSIVE LOCKUP .. I now know that I don't have to hit the brakes that hard anymore.

BTW, great news to hear that the boy in the Kart accident is going to be ok

Ah so that was you!

Did you sell your evo George?

Demon I got the whole thing on film, I was standing at the end of the pit wall - got about 5 frames then had to take a step back because I thought you were going to hit the wall! ;)

Pics should be up in the next day or 2 people - my PC has been hit with a 'slow virus' so what would've taken 2 days has taken 7 days. :D

Damn, do I really want to see it???? Brings back that ugly feeling and that sudden urge to go to the toilet

Hey, I finished a second video from the trackday. This one has all of the clips I took from the day and a few in-car shots.

(It is just finishing now, should be up in a few)

Bugger! Youtube disabled the audio. I'll have to cut some different tracks for it and repost it.

OK - sorry 'bout three posts in a row.

Here is the revised version with YouTube happy sound track (geez took three goes!):

(Turns out YouTube doesn't let you use ACDC "Back in Black" - shame because it is a great track tune.)

Thanks folks, I figured that everyone would like to see their car so tried to get lots of shots of different cars. Also walked all over the track as you can see from the different angles. I was so worn out by the end of the day.

Glad you all like it :)

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
