How many of you have the standard government issue plates in your state(yellow in NSW). Honestly, i think customised plates make the car look too rice. My ones are IM-32-FK but thats how i bought it....its been like 2 months and i have never got around to changing it

meh

std black and white slimlines are the way to go in nsw, the yellows are butt fugly

custom plates can be nice if done right, none of those cringeworthy "2nv" or "sxc" no offence intended to anyone here

or plates for eg. where you go "no sh%t, it's a good thing you got custom plates spelling out "lancer/civic/commo" I just couldn't tell what it was from the badge and generic styling of the car alone"

Not always the case though, I was behind a VY Commodore today that had a big fat 'BT-50' badge in the centre of the boot

I don't mind standard issue plates really...

I do think that 'Premium' plates are more attractive...

or for European cars, 'Euro' plates too.

Without going over the top for personalised plates...

I do find that over the years, a combination of astuteness and opportunity can help you to reap rewards with purchasing personalised plates, when it comes time to sell the car.

My own examples have been...

MYI.64Q which remained on my Alfa Romeo 164Q

GTR.33Z which remained on my R33 GT-R

N.BM.523 which remained on my wife's BMW 523

Each respective purchaser had an emotional attachment to the existing plate.

I currently have...

GTR.34Z on the GT-R

MY.06.XT on the Forester

I'm waiting atm for...

N.BM.xxx for my wife's 5 series BMW but only as a Gov't issue plate. Currently the 'Euro' plates have crept up to N.BK.xxx

so I'm happy to wait until K > L > M

...now I'm expecting a joke about my familiarity with the alphabet lol

hence the generic styling inclusion

what's even funnier is when they put a chevy badge on, I'm gonna buy a VL and whack on a nissan badge

Sorry what's so bad about those plates??? :)

just not to my taste, it's all personal preference really

maybe because a lot of cars with those type of plates I see are also 'sex spec' or bog standard 4bangers with horribly fitted rims and chop shop cannon :)

I have standard WA issued plates (white BG with blue letters/numbers).

IMO the standard plates looks MUCH nicer than the customized ones, if I were to go the customized route, I'm still just gonna go with the standard look except pick my own letters (they are also cheaper than the other customized plates).

I have 3 sets of gen issue VIC plates...all on my wall from cars ive owned that reg has run out on...VicRoads dont give you any money back for the plates...so hell i keep mine!

On my car, i have custom ones, my mum bought them for me as part of my 21st prezzy, honestly for the price you pay they aint realy worth it but as a gift it was nice.

i have what i call "semi-custom plates" they will mean something to anyone who knows skylines but not to the general public. i think that custom plates are a bit of a giveaway to make people think your a hoon. (not saying it does but i just think thats how the general public perscieve them)

my plates are Vic standard issue and are:

[ECR-333]

The only RTA-issue plates that seemed to be in any way significant read, "OMC.111" on a a new '87 R31 Silhouette.

Even the guy who bought the car off me was surprised that I was willing to let them go.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
