g'day,

i was thinking about buying a set of thease for my r32 gtr.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Garrett-GT2...sQ5fAccessories

my current turbos are gt2530 from what i was told by the car dealer i purchased the car off (very dodgy bloke/..)

i want to get the block bored to around 2.8L or even 3L, does anyone know if it could go that far ?

the only reason i want to bore the block is because the turbos will lag like mad rite ?

thease are the biggest twin turbo setup i can find..

i basically want to achieve around 600kw for my track car..

if anyone has had any experiance with thease turbos, or anyone that has a better opinion on what should do would be much appreciated.

I have not had any experience ( im poor i only own a gtst) but from what i have seen to get 2.8l you use a stroker kit and for 3.0l you use an rb30 bottom end, im guessing very little inside your motor will be left standard to achieve a reliable 600awkw so 3g+ on turbo's will be the least of your expense.

600rwkw or 600kw @ the fly?

Either way, it sounds like you need to do more reading mate.

If you think you can bore a GTR block out to 2800cc total you're already showing a little lack of knowledge... let alone needing 600kw in a track car.

Also turbos having mad lag, another giveaway perhaps more homework needed.

What is the budget?

What are the current mods?

What are your current lap times?

What lap times are you after?

Hmm that horsepower level will cost around the $50K minimum. I would suggest a more realistic power level is what is required.

Those turbos are tiny for the power you want, A/R .64? Please.

For 600kw at the wheels you're looking at some serious horsepower, and a built engine, you'll have to fortify the top end with various JUN / Tomei / Whatever parts and maybe even the bottom end depending on what you're going to be using all that power for. Remember you have an RB26 not a 2JZ lol.

Secondly I wouldn't buy my turbos off ebay, I'd buy from a registered Garret dealer where you have things like warranty.

If I wanted 600awkw from an RB26 I'd get 2 GT35R's with .82 rear housings from a registered Garret dealer, like Horsepower In A Box.

Then I'd find a workshop willing to tune such an animal and an ECU that would be reliable at that level of power, you're going to need a custom fuel setup, at least a 2.5L surge using something like a Carter Gold lifter pump and 2 x Bosch 044's with return lines.

I wouldn't bother trying to bore out your engine to a massive 2.8L, is that even possible? Instead you could purchase a stroker kit.

This is all going to cost big dollars, I wouldn't undergo this project unless you had at least $25k and a workshop that you could trust.

that is stupid. 35Rs will flow over 400kw atw EACH. the lag on that sort of setup would be stupendous.

HKS GT-RS's will make the power you are talking about. Lag will be an issue and will require a lot of money & time to try and negate. If you don't know what your doing and havent done much track work before (assuming this based on your post) then start off small and work your way up. You will lap faster in a responsive 400hp gtr than in your 700-800hp setup with lag and traction issues.

well 600kw @ the fly is still what, 500rwkw give/take?

Well considering he said 500-600kw i would be thinking 400-500rwkw which is "achievable" more so than 600rwkw.

If you wanted something "fairly responsive" (hell i dont call anything with that kind of power on a RB responsive but whatever) with that kind of power i'd be looking at something along the lines of a 30/26 with twin GT-RS's.

But as has been said, why so much power? I'd be looking at lower power levels but be concentrating on response.

hioctane have demonstrated that a 26/30 with 2860-5's makes for a very quick combo.

with a hollinger...

and special diffs...

and an endless budget...

realisticly you should budget atleast 70k to do it properly with a box and diffs etc and thats not including labour from a workshop

It is not stupid it's a solution that I know of several drag cars running 800-900rwhp at only 20psi.

Remember the OP never stated what he wanted so much power for.

Does he want a responsive track car? a dyno queen? highway warrior? something that runs 10's?

More information needs to be posted.

All we receieved was an ebay link and an "I want this much power"

How long is a piece of string? etc...

I think 600Kw at the crank let alone the wheels is an unrealistic goal to have in the first place .

If you want to have a usable rev range with that sort of output I think even 3 litres (200 odd Cu ?) is a bit lacking .

Having telephone number outputs is one thing and being able to do something useful with it , let alone affording it , is another .

I don't think 600 hp at the crankshaft is unrealistic in a track RB30 but I don't think it'd be a nice drive on the street .

A while back it was mentioned to me by possibly SK that RB30's can be stroked usefully to about 3.2-3.3L and compared to some of the zillion dollar mods people do at times it may not be as expensive ($/Kw) as many think .

Std bore/stroke RB26's revved to 11 may be one thing but the budget must be horrendous .

IMO need more cubes , do any of the later 3.5L V6's have any hope of going into an R32/3/4 ?

A .

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
