Best way to do it I find is to unbolt the washer bottle, go for a drive running over the thing and dragging it and anything else out anything else it touches including the wiring for the censor going onto the hub.....job done....it's now 2WD with no ABS. :)

seriously though....disconnect the pug connecting to the sensor....me thinks....unless my box was stuffed before then. :P

They are on holidays till the 4th January.

I believe price of the total kit including new thermo fan and new piping is $899.

If you just wan the cooler and going to use your own piping and fan it is about $450.

HDI are now starting to get there kits for the M35 in stock and i was lucky to get the second production kit and the next shipment is due soon.

So what is it like.

The kit supplied is very comprehensive and has everything needed to do the install included in the kit. I opted to supply my own fan as replacement for the factory fan that has to be removed to create more clearance for the FMIC.

The removal of the front end of the car is relatively simple being, removal of grill (4 x press clips + 4 clips along the bottom edge of the grill). Removal of the front bar is almost as simple with 2 x press clips to remove, the screws along the bottom edge of the bar connecting the under tray and a screw in each wheel well.

Next thing to remove is the reo bar which is 4 bolts on either side.

Removal of the standard cooler is simple but make sure you keep the bolts as you will need them to put the new one on.

It is also recomended to remove the bolts holding the washer bottle in place but don't forget to bolt it back in.

Removal of factory AC fan.

The kit is quite straight forward to install.

Install your new slimline fan first. There is a little fiddling to get this in the right spot.

When you start on installing the piping start from the pipe running up to the throttle body and (drivers side) and fit it to the throttle body. Then connect this pipe to the intercooler and mount the cooler in place. The last pipe to do is the one from the turbo and is a tight fit and a bit of detergent will help here. There is a little more leeway on the passenger side with the pipes which is why I suggest doing it in this order.

Then put all the other bits together.

My car has some mods but are limited to;

* 3" exhaust with dump pipe from the turbo

* plenum spacer

* K&N filter

The result:

The car feels much less choked now and revs very smoothly through the whole rev range.

Boost is identical, 14psi bleeding back to 12psi at higher rpm.

The car comes onto boost more easily and feels like it is pulling better off boost. When it is on boost there may be slightly more power than with the standard cooler but it has more power down low in the rev range with the car wanting to step sideways now when pushed hard from a standing start around a corner. This never happened in the dry with the stock cooler.

The M35 is a car that seems to suffer quite badly with hot days with the motor retarding and fuel consumption increasing especially after a few hard runs. I installed my kit 2 weeks ago, just in time for the end of summer heatwave of about 35C where I live even in the evening. The car on these days just kept hauling with no flat feel to the motor and the car just kept pulling hard when I asked.

The fuel economy seems to have improved with the average economy being about 0.2L/100km better on suburban driving.

Overall I am very happy with the upgrade, easy to install and the improvement to the overall driving of the car has been great. I think the full benifit of this cooler would be felt more on a highflowed turbo but on the stock turbo it has made a good car even better.

Tell me....I gotta know.....Why would a Japanese brand be better? Excluding ARC.....I am talking around the $1,000K mark delivered.

Enlighten us Iain...... Wouldn't you buy the best performing intercooler that fits the car and your budget.

I know the Blitz one is now available in Oz but it has worse flow rates, what would be the benifit?

I am yet to puchace my upgraded cooler Cam, smart arse. :)

I will find a sucker to take mine off me when the time comes, but until then my $99 dollar special will have to do, at least its better than stock.

i just like japanese kits. its made FOR the car, and not a kit modified to suit a car.

Are you saying Blitz and alike make the core solely for the M35?

I thought they were using there standard size coolers just adapting the piping as required. (same thing HDI did)

I know ARC have one that has a core made for the M35 but that is the only one I have seen like that.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
