best way to describe the power gain

......give your car a good hit on a 35 degree day.....then take it out and give it the same hit on a cold misty night.

the difference is the power gain you will see.

As we run fairly high boost, yes it will make a fair difference, especially on hotter days. Worth the cash? I wouldnt bother until the exhaust and highflow is done.

good point .. i noticed virtually no difference on stock turbo.

but i know its taking away alot more heat from that turbo and engine and i live in qld so thats important for summer on its way. power difference though i wont see it until a hiflow or like craig says.. take it out on a really cold night vs a hot day.

Agreed with Scott, i installed one on mine.. its pretty much the same piping as before, and half the intercooler doesnt get cooled behind the reinforcement bar.

it would only make a differenct with the exhaust and HF turbo..

Things i noticed was a smoother accelaration, and a slightly earlier response.

i thought it was worth the money, but.. yeh

I converted mine to ball bearing and high flowed the turbo. i still didnt notice much "extra power" but I noticed a smother acceleration I guess. To agree with you the cooler wouldnt really pull much more air in seeing as the "intake pipe" (air filter to turbo) is the same size, much like the stock dump-cat, its small and restrictive.

but then I put scottys custom dump on. I think the 3 mods together (HDI FMIC/bb-HF turbo/dump back exhaust) made a huge difference. although the dumping of fuel is annoying.

Im really eager to see what the cooler will do in the summer. hopefully better.

its more the size of the cooler and the flow rate of the cooler that would give it more air than the stocky if anything. bearing in mind mine is alot stealther and less flow behind the number plate and the grill too. i bet yours has slightly more exposure there.

i put mine on today. looks the goods in the aero front bar. no holes needed :P

it seems there is some lag around 3k. i thought it wasnt revving that high for some reasoin but i just put my boot into it and it went nicely past it :)

yeh slightly abit more exposure since I go an angle grinder n cut some of the number plte holder n the fins out of the fron bar..

I thought of what Craig did with the GTR styles vents but.. i'm not to comfortable cutting through the reinforcement bar.. especially since im still on my P's..looks great though!

get an aero front bar, the opening is larger!

ill take a pic next time i go outsite

Yeh I would, I actually like them.. BUT.. because of the AR-X's so called "wide body kit" I can fit them on without spending another $1000 on top to putty and fill things in and paint fenders and boots n yeh.

not the effor to get a couple more mm's of air.

how does that work.. is it legal to drive for you still and just not to own ?

whats the deal there on your p's ?

already did that. just without the gtr vents

and yeh i put a mesh on it to.. after i took the pic.

and does the axis front actually fit? or is it going to cost a house like the converions to the 2005 headlights. even though they are nice(no offence)

No.

LMAO Scott

*QUOTE?*how does that work.. is it legal to drive for you still and just not to own ?

no, no, and it works... just.

nah when I bought the Car I got approval from vic roads to drive it, because its an import they didnt have much knowledge about it. i took a couple of pictures, sent it with a description being a low perfomance Turbo charged vehicle/Family Wagon.

they sent me an approval saying I'm allowed to drive the car with VIN#...

its not so low powered anymore ..but only a month left on P plates

lol so when you get done youll get done for no p's and driving a high powered m35 :P

dont get caught racing eh

lol.. the outside is stock. the only thing you can hear is the exhaust n the ball bearing whining..

n yeh that enough to get done. but stock the turbo is Ball Bearing( so ive been told/just really quiet ones) n my excuse is, it broke so i 'rebuilt' it

exhaust? got epa'd and was exactly on the DB limit(not any more since the dump install)

and intercooler, standard is front mount. tell the cop to try looking for a good one.(this is where everyone on the forum doesnt have one..shh.)

BOV is plumb back.

its an AR-X a midget could walk under my car(slight exageration.. only slight)

i dont race. i dont see a point in competion with other P platers and their dads Commonwhores. and I wouldnt stand a chance against a 1000+/-kg evo.

I drive the car coz i like it.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
