Well my day is only getting busier!

Work implemented some new software of billing clients and linking the database with MYOB. A week or so ago they told me to test drive it and see if I could break it.

Well today I broke it and it took down our server for half hour this morning. What do I win? :P

Some grumpy people around the office right now :P "Now, me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block ... and replace the piston rings you fried"

Two Brisbane Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on SH15 Cunningham H/way,

just west of the Amberley Airforce Base at Ipswich .

The officers were using hand held radar devices to check speeding vehicles approaching the crest of a hill. The officers were suddenly surprised when their radar guns began reading 500 kms per hour.

The officer attempted to reset the radar guns, but they would not reset and then turned off.

Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked on to an RAAF F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near the location.

Back at the QLD Traffic Control Headquarters the Patrol Sergeant fired off a complaint to the RAAF Base Commander.

The reply came back in true RAAF style:

Thank you for your letter. We can now complete the file on this incident.

You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked on to your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it, which is why it shut down.

Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment location.

Fortunately, the Senior Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position.

The pilot also suggests you cover your mouths when cursing at them, since the video systems on these jets are very high tech.

Sergeant Johnson, the officer holding the left radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar. It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster.

Thank you for your concern.

Wing Commander Brown, SFO

hahaha thats gold.

Reminds me of the conversation between a Lighthouse and a US Navy vessel..

US Navy vs Canada

This is the transcript of the ACTUAL radio

conversation of a U.S. naval ship with the Canadian

authorities off the coast of Newfoundland October

1995. Radio conversation released by the Chief of

Naval Operations10-10-95.

Canadians:

Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South

to avoid a collision.

Americans:

Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the

North.

Canadians:

Negative. You will have to divert your course 15

degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans:

This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again,

divert YOUR course.

Canadians:

No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans:

THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN. THE

SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES ATLANTIC

FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE

CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT

YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, I SAY

AGAIN,THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER

MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF

THIS SHIP.

Canadians:

We are a lighthouse, your call.

back from Moonta!

got the 34 bogged on a circle of concrete, had to jack it up and put bricks under the wheels to get it off. Less than helpful locals stood by to remind me how much better their bosses SS is at doing burnouts and going sideways. Upon being asked if i did burnouts, Adrian replied "no", response: "then why did you buy a skyline?" silly bumpkins.

caught a couple of tommies off the jetty, caught and dropped a squid as well. nice to get away!

well its official

my car hates emus :worship::(

When I read this post initially, I thought it said 'my car hates emos' and i was wondering if you'd taken 2 or 3 of the eyeline wearing twats out, but I can see how a big emu could cause those dents...

still, its never a bad thing to hit emos too

    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
    • Hi, i’m converted my r34 4dr auto to manual but need help with gearbox wiring. There are bunch of wires no idea which one for speedo drive, neutral, reverse can anyone help me. IMG_6860.mov
