Those of you that know me personally will know that I'm looking for commercial premises. for the rest of you though I pose a question:

How far would you drive to find someone that would do a proper job on your car?

I know some of you drive to yatala to get your cars serviced. I'm currently I'm looking around the 17 mile rocks area for buildings as there is no one there in my industry so it will free up a few product lines that I am restricted on in my current location.

thoughts?

if anyone is in the commerical game - flick me a message. property need not be bigger than 130m2 zones industrial/w'hse and it needs an office.

Southside FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

looking there too. issue being is traffic. most of the new ones are off in side streets and the oldest ones are falling down and tehy still want $20k too much.

there is one in clontarf that I would take in an instant if it wasn't tucked in the rear of snook st industrial estate.

personally i dont mind traveling some distance for quality work although a 1-1.5hours would be prob my limit depending on the amount of work needed(i live near jimboomba)

ps: i need you to install some stuff for me :)

thats what I was loking for. I'm used to peole complaining about crossing the bridge 20 min away so getting this feedback gives me a better idea. keep it coming.

Dan,

build it and they will come :)

wynnum/manly area?

or failing that, how bout Pinkenba? ultra close to gateway so fairly central to south siders and north siders? Also, not sure how far into industrial vehicles you venture, but there is $$$$$$ down there with heavy duty auto electrical stuff. Used to work at AshdownIngram so delt with a number of auto elecs that worked around there.

My g/f's dad has a few commercial properties and lots down at Pinkenba that are available for rent, not sure on size/$$ but happy to ask if interested. PM if you want me to chase up more info.

Matt

what about virginia/geebung chris?

there is heaps for lease/sale in there...

there is. looked at a few off sandgate rd and yarraman pl. they want $30K for them

and I can't use them. they are all office or all storage (no office) and those one the owners won't let you mod them.

wynnum/manly. never looked out there. send me a PM with the details and I'll have a look once I get back to brissy (I'm enroute to sydney/canberra currently.)

im at mango hill on the northsaide ......

so id say yatala would be getting to my limits only cause it would be a pain to organise someone to follow me over to get a ride home if my car had to stay there.

I reckon if you can get a place somewhere inside a 5-10km ring of the city you're set as far as volume goes because the random mums/kids that want some front speakers or a basic head unit will choose based on convenience (and price obviously). If you're focussing on the enthusiast market then you have more leeway because as you've pointed out, people will usually drive further for quality work. So it depends on where you see your business focussing in the near future. The other thing to consider is, where are you going to be living?

Anyway for me personally, as a general rule I'd say I'd travel an hour for quality work, more if the quality is exceptional or I'm getting a lot done at once.

PS I need to get you up to put those horns in the 33!

+1 yatala ftw.. so much development and recession on i'm sure a good deal can be made to get some ppl in the factories.. also benefit being in the middle of brissy and gold coast..

    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
    • I suppose it was relatively stock too, the JZ motor handle most mods thrown at them without even breaking a sweat
