Hey everyone. I have never been in a turbo car before, so I was wondering if any one could explain to me what the acceleration feels like in an r33 gts-t stock. Do you get that pull sensation that everyone speaks of?

Sorry - probably a stupid question but anyway.

Well its hard to compare, like when my mate first brought his AUTO R33 Skyline Series 1.5 , Back then i just turned 18 and brought a VTEC prelude and knew nothing about cars, Yes, i did get a sick nice geforce.... but i think it was in my mind + my crappy h22a prelude manual... comparing to that. Overall Stock pulls ok, not bad, very smooth feel.

Stock wont have much of a feel to it, as it isnt running lots of boost.

You'll get the feeling of being pushed into the back of your seat a second time as boost kicks in, in any turbo.

Passenger seat always feels faster, driver's seat always feels more fun, especially in a manual.

Very true, mine f**ked up and i had to go back to my old nc fairlane for a month, was awesome getting back into the skyline.

If your not use to it or a first timer, then you will feel the turbo kick in and you get that feeling like on a roller coaster "Butterflies in your stomach"...

After a while you get use to it and it's considered normal, till you increase your boost.

It's a bit irrelevant how fast the car is IMO...unless it's running 0 psi, comparing off boost to on boost you still get the pull that he is talking about in any turbo car, particularly if you've never been in a turbo car. I can feel it in a turbo diesel Land Cruiser and like you guys I've also been in some seriously fast cars (subjective I know). He will definitely get that pull, but yes it will fade off after a while if he doesn't swap between slow and fast cars or modify his.

Also I'm going to say the stock GTS-T is a fast car...by the standards of road cars today it still is. 99% of cars you come across these days, it's still only V8s and other turbo cars that are going to keep up with you in a properly driven zero to speed limit dash.

I used to own a 180sx so the launch of the skyline didnt impress me...

First ride in the 180 I imagine would be much like the skyline... away it goes and it feels like your being dragged forward

i could tell the difference in power and that "pull sensation" your words not mine.

but this was me going from a tr magna to a r33 gtst but now im use to the power it feels slow to me at the moment and im constantly craving more power.

In my opinion, you won't get a nice PULL from a stock R33 until you do some basic mods, e.g. Pod air filter, Blow off valve, front mounted intercooler and possibly some new Spitfire coilcovers and NGK spark plugs - this is what I call the basic mods. After these, you will experience a good hike in power. Added with a boost controller you'll be hitting the 200 kws mark and from here you will feel the joy.

Modify your car slowly as once you've done everything you'll soon want to move on to another car.

R33 NA, = nothing.

R32 GTS4 = Yes definitely (they are turbo). Everyone says these are underpowered but it felt like a rocket the first few times I drove it.

R33 GTR = OMGWTFBBQ when I first drove it (its stock too!).

As for the argument of normal family cars being as quick as a stock R33 GTST, I'd say yes they are and you would get that "pull" sensation from them. A mate and I had a run, his stockie R34 GTT vs my mum's 2005 Saab 95 Linear. At about 140, he had me at 2 car lengths. (On private property of course :banana: )

I just drove the 07 Corolla sedan my parents bought & up till then I never released how much BETTER my car was compared to that A-B white good.

It wasn't the power difference that surprised me, (to be honest I felt that the Corolla had more pull compared to my car somehow, even though it only had 100kw at the fly wheel & weights almost the same as a GTS-T :banana:)

The steering had the most difference, the Corolla doesn't have a 'steering feel' to it at all. Felt like I was playing one of those old driving games at the arcade where the plastic wheel doesn't have force feed back. It felt pretty loose no matter what speed I'm going at.

It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo.     • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
