Christ! 1.31.1 is moving! Lets see how much they have left in them. Any news on the pace of the RX7s?

thats absolutely stonking from the Sierra x 2 boys...Ive been confident they were going to go quick...so much in fact that i requested a Mitsubishi Lancer for my hire car this weekend.

a 1.31.1 is almost quicker than Benm's GTR 1/4 mile time next door. :ninja:

Session one just ended and top laptimes are like so:

1: Sierra Sierra Evo: 1:32.2480

2: Tomei Cusco Team Tarzan Impreza: 1.33.4080

3: R-Magic RX7: 1.33.5050

4: Pan Speed RX7: 1.33.6540

Both the Hi Octane R34 and Cyber Evo didn't set times. The Evo still has it's engine head off and we're told the team had to pull an all nighter last night... Nasty!

:Rod

Mark Skaife holds the V8 Touring car EC lap record with a 1 31.701..... thats slicked up, these guys are running treaded tyres :ninja:

Can someone at the track confirm the Sierra Sierra EVO motor is hanging out of it? I am interested to know if the rumour floating round is true lol No it didnt blow, they are getting serious and putting the 800hp motor in

Apparently Mark has done a head gasket (which is being fixed now) and Russ broke his engine in half.

Neither of them will run today. But the head gasket is being fixed now and a new engine for Russ is on its way down from Brisbane. Sounds like a long night ahead for them!

i have a couple of short engines ready on stands here in Newcastle...as well as two complete race heads if they are needed.

Nitto head gaskets as well...they certainly cured Superjet760's headgasket issues.

spewing about Mark and Russ :ninja:

Just spoke to Dave from the team...Marks headgasket is being replaced with a Nitto item big thanks to Andrew McIntosh from Nitto for helping the guys out and Russell's engine should not be too far away.

all good...sometimes trouble like this is a good omen...i know our car has always performed well when its made us work for it.

Big Show is so hard on the gear, I hope he can get the old girl back out there!

Whats the bet someone else is doing all the work on the car? Lol!

there was no updates on the superlap site which was a bummer and was checking natsoft all day waiting for the numbers. Ended up getting on the blower but would have been good is someone was on the twitter thingo and sending out updates to all. Aparently even at the track it was hard to understand which car was what as it had the drivers names and they were in big led's that was hard to read.

Can't wait for tomorrow

    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
    • Just to get this straight if you turn the splined shaft to the outside, it turns freely but the chain does not move? What happens when you move the chain, does the splined shaft turn? Surely the shaft is snapped, or the chain is seized and it took the teeth off whatever great is behind the steel bracket
    • Good on you for mentioning, that helps as far as other things you might need to check
