Mark,

Thanks again for your help at Timeattack on Tuesday replacing the power steering belt on the GTR.

We really appreciated your efforts and will sort the Harmonic balancer issue out before the next meet.

Looking forward to catching up then, we definately owe you a beer or 5!

and good luck with the arrival of the Mr or Miss Berry jnrs!

Speak soon...

Ben.

yeah ben , common issue when revved, there was one throwing belts at Bathurst too.

no sure what mark told you but ATI balancers seem to be a good solution.

Yeah he mentioned that was the way to go.

Thanks again for your advice on the tyre pressures.

They were spot on.

The Evo performed really well.

Sorry you guys werent out there..

Thanks for the new desktop background Russ.

This new Ross metal jacket race spec ballancer I got for my 32 seems to be working really well. Ross, as in the owner guy, assured me he'd fixed the power steering belt problem with this new race spec jobby so much so that he took back my original i bought off them and upgraded it free of charge. It was a few hundred dollars worth of upgrade. He told me he bought an ATI one, found out what they did to fix it and then copied it. Pretty much just an underdrive pully. Just watching it on the dyno, mine dosen't shake the belt around nearly as much as a stocker. Ross is a top bloke actually. Really took the time to listen and explained a few things.

Back on topic but. Russ last time I talked to Mark i think he was saying the Atezza problems may have been a result of changing the roll center so dramtically. Have you elliminated that as a cause or is it still a possibility.

yeah ross , from ross balancers is a top bloke!! very smart guy

if he now has an under drive balancer, it's definately worth trying,

must be good if belts are hanging on on your car coop, the way you rev it ! :bunny:

with the 4wd , it appears to still not be accounting for wheels spin, but no codes? looking at autronic to control 4wd pressures now.

Maybe no wheelspin is occuring >_< Seriously though I'm not sure that wheelspin is actually in input to the ATTESSA ECU - those pins may just got straight through to the ABS computer in the same place. I am pretty sure Lat G, Long G and throttle position are by far the most important inputs so I would suspect TPS first....

BTW I is there any truth to the rumour this car will be on display at the SAU NSW Show n Shine in 2 weeks?

interesting watching the trans pressure guage, i reckon it was sleeping :D

Bit hard to see but it looked like it was picking up the lateral g sensors but not the longtitudinal sensors?

edit: spell check big word :D

From the developemnt I had done with the R32 ATTESSA and from what I was told by guys I had look at the coding of the control unit, the wheel speed sensors are used as one of the priority corrections, but are not used as a "mapping" axis.

We cracked the control unit some time ago when playing around with Haltech PWM outputs etc. Its a fairly simple system so Im told (I know nothing about electronics), the unit was never made "tunable" but as far as nissans programing went we had that worked out and replicated with the haltech the best we could considering the inputs available to us. It broke all kinda things when you stuff around with the way the front drive is engaged.

As far as running this car in the national SS championship. Whats it weigh??

Id have a guess it would be under the weight for a forced inducted 3L AWD??

the car weighs 1200 , ( i think? dont quote me, it's been awhile)

We will have to check TPS again , but i am sure there was a signal to the 4wd ecu for that ,

And i think your right to Trent , doesnt appear to sense both G forces.

Hey Wooster, apparently all bowie's time's were removed from the sprint sheets which meant Sean's time of 2.20. 7093 was third.

I reckon the most awsome thing getting around the mountain was the Monaro with the stroked nascar engine, it was crazy fast! it did a 2.25 too.

we should have eased up on the rear wing angle too, honestly mark was not pushing the car too hard especially where the track bites from the cutting on, we dont have enough experience with the car or the track .

the car definately had a atleast a couple of seconds left in it over the top if you were willing to risk it or needed too, and had a track experienced driver in it.

we are still at the same point we cant increase the power( & there's plenty left) until we get 4wd sorted.

a quick question which is a sort of off topic regarding the attessa pressure guage. What sort of gauge is it (like what is it usually used for, i assume hydraulic stuff?) and what sort of pressure readings are expected with attessa operating correctly? i want a gauge for my 32r track car to check the 4wd is workin correct but unsure of the scale of the gauge and what psi does it go upto, etc.

hey unique ,

you want a gauge that reads up to about 250 psi, they are cheap.

the hardest thing is just adapting the hose connections but a good hose company like pirtek etc can help.

on a 32 it's very important to know the pressures, they are an old system and generally not working effectively anymore.

none of the r32 gtr's that wehave worked on have had the correct pressures, all had system issues

( none were showing codes)

Hey gents,

it was me who had a poke around the car when it was in the gueling area, and I must say it looks amazing!

The quality of work is awesome!

We you happy with the way it performed?

I think it was a great result considering some of the other cars that were there

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
