Well, thought i would be sneaky and get in with the first post for the 2010 season :P

Overnight i read that Trulli and Heiki have been confirmed at Lotus. Not a bad driver line up for a new team looking to establish itself. At present based on the car's progress, the people and the drivers involved..i see Lotus perhaps being the strongest of the new teams.

Kamui Kobayashi signs with Sauber

Kamui Kobayashi has signed a deal to race with Sauber next year.

He made his Formula One debut with Toyota at the final two races of 2009, deputising for the injured Timo Glock, and impressed onlookers when he scored three points at the season finale in Abu Dhabi. His performance appeared to have secured him a drive at Toyota for 2010, but when the Japanese manufacturer announced it was pulling out of F1 in early November, Kobayashi had to look elsewhere.

"Ever since the start of my career I have dreamed of racing in Formula One, now this dream has come true," Kobayashi said. "I am very happy that my two races in 2009 have earned me a cockpit place. I will do my very best for Peter Sauber's team and I am proud to be able to carry on flying the Japanese flag in Formula One."

The FIA recently announced Sauber would fill Toyota's space on the grid in 2010 and Kobayashi is the first driver boss Peter Sauber has confirmed.

"I'm very much looking forward to working together with Kamui," Sauber said. "In the final two grand prix of last season he was granted an unexpected chance to show his skills, and he made impressive use of it.

"Particularly in the Abu Dhabi race he demonstrated not only that he can drive fast and aggressively, but also his ability to successfully implement a strategy. I am convinced he has a great deal of potential and will be able to make the most of it in our team."

take that back. sato is awesome. the most feared driver in F1.... go Taku go!

Feared because he is good or feared because he was the man most likely to have an awesome crash infront/beside/over/behind or generally into you?

Having said that, his over taking move around Alonso (?) in Canada a couple/three years back should go down as the pinnacle of awesome.

feared because if he's behind you in a race you can just feel that rear ender or up the inside t-bone coming.....

now, what's all this nonsense about schumacher coming back? can anyone seriously see it happening? I can't. I'd love to see him drive again, but maybe it's a good thing he's retired and I'll I have is fond memories. don't want him to come back and not perform. :D

I don't know if I want him to come back for a year (stand in 1-2 race would be cool though). But I think there is still a possibility it could happen. Mercedes did start his cereer, maybe they are playing the 'you owe us' card, and it would move cars for Mercesdes, so I can see them trying very hard to have him.

I didn't think it would be likely to happen but then Montezemelo has come out and announced that Ferrari would not stand in his way should he decide to return for Mercedes. So might be more truth to it than I first thought. Schueys role at Ferrari is as a consultant for their road car division only.

Personally, I can't see what he has to gain from coming back but then he might be a nationalistic thing in him that wants to do it for a 'home' manufacturer.

If Schuey comes back then i think the sport with be poorer for it. I loved the guy, then hated him then loved him...but the sport needs to move on, he will eb well past his best and read this Mick "THERE IS NO WAY A 41 YEAR OLD CAN DRIVE AN F1 CAR OVER A SEASON!" Hang it up and MErcedes need to stop trying to buy press attention with talk of MS and best get busy with putting a good pilot in the second seat and get next years car on song as Brawn were only about the 3rd best team at the end of the season!

I'd have to agree.

Part of me can't see it happening, if he couldn't drive Massa's car for a few races when needed, I can't see him driving a full season and for a team other than Ferrari, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough...

Speculation is growing even more so overnight and according to Montezemelo, Shuey will be driving a Mercedes F1 car next year. Now I'm going to be surprised if this doesn't happen. I really don't think Schu would consider a comeback if he wasn't sure he is capable both physically and mentally.

Too early to be predicting the 2010 WDC, but I think Roy's top 3 will feature heavily

Looks like Heikki will finally be the dominant driver

Kobayashi signs for BMW Sauber for 2010

Let's hope He's being schooled in the allowable procedures for defence of racing line over the winter

I reckon this will happen. There just seems to be too much buzz and lack of denial from all parties (Mercedes, Ferrari, Shooey's manager) for it not to be the case. We'll prolly get an announcement in early January

WDC: Alonso

P2: Hamilton

P3: Vettel

P4: Massa

P5: Webber

P6: Button

WDC: Hamilton

P2: Schumacher

P3: Alonso

P4: Button

In an era where either there wasnt as many rounds or clear team dominance in a season.

But yes, i suppose there was about the same number of rounds and the loads/speeds would have been similar in the case of ol Nige.

But, Nige was younger then 41, was he 36 or something? And if they sign MS surely it will only be for a single season, nless he things at 42 and 43 he will still be motivated.

    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
