Shame Bridgestone are leaving the sport...

yes and no.. the current bridgestones are so good that you can drive a full race on one set of tyres if you want. i would prefer that they give significantly more grip for about half the time and then drop off a cliff. that would make the racing interesting because it forces teams to pick their moment to change. now you can just manage the whole grand prix ohhh we were quick and ran a long stint it's now 10 laps from the end i guess we gotta start thinking of pulling in so we use the other compound.

highest level of racing, tyres that last a full race even starting super heavy on fuel? come on. let's see some pit crew action.

What an absolute waste of time an Indian GP would be

With so many better places they could run GP weekends, who though the sub continent would be anywhere near the top the list.

bernie is pushing F1 into all these places for one reason. MONEY. can run events cheaper, and squeeze more races into a season by persuading countries to build new tracks. fatter hip wallet. he gives Tillke a reacharound to flog out some more brain-dead track layouts and away we go.

Tyre war much???

Michelin vs Pirelli would've been the ticket..

I dont think so, too much went wrong with the last tyre war.

One manufacturer will excel at a particular track or weather temp and ruin the potential for close racing. With a control tyre, it takes away a variable that the teams have no control over or can improve on anyway.

For example, i would hate knowing ahead of time that if its a cold-ish week in brazil that the redbulls with have suddenly have a performance advantage over the other guys. Or, If its blisteringly hot, The fuzz will tear up Shanghai because they treat their rears well.

Former Formula One world champion Kimi Raikkonen has angrily rejected talk he could make a return to F1 next season driving for Renault.

The 2007 champion now drives in the world rally championship, but Renault boss Eric Boullier said Raikkonen had been in touch about coming back to F1.

But the former Ferrari driver, now 30, criticised Renault for using his name for "their own marketing purposes".

"It's 100% certain I will not drive for Renault in 2011," said Raikkonen.

"My managers have weeks ago been in contact, once, with Renault's team leader (Eric Boullier). That is all," added Raikkonen, in an interview with a Finnish newspaper.

Ok Kimi, so exactly why did your managers contact Renault?

Kimi in a rally car is like Piquet Jnr in an F1 car given his last outing.....

After a few months of just horrible race tracks and shitty racing (excluding the wet fun in Spa) finally we get to a track that kicks some ass. The last two tracks were complete and utter shit

Tipping vettel for a good show, and for no particular reason, i see webber maybe having a tough one

Either way, anybody but massa for the win

So, both RBR drivers were slapped on the wrists...."recpect one another children" ... but this weekend is going to end in tears for RBR.

It seems clear already, this early in the weekend that they are racing themselves. RBR dont chase the timesheets on Fridays, my memory tells me every time they have been comfortably quicker in FP1 then they only ended up going quicker and gapping the other teams

So, this weekend seems to be the sphincter of the universe Rd2....Vettel wants points, is desperate for points and Webber will need this win with his team mate behing him to give him a gap to Alonso, and put Vettel out of the running. Assuming Webber, Vettel Alsonso (Maybe Kuz can sneak into 3rd???) then it means Webber will have 21 points on Alonso and 28 on Vettel....

IF, we reverse it and Vettel bags 1st with Webber behind him it means Webber only has 14 points to both Alonso and Vettel....surely this is far too tight for RBR going into the final 3 races. Dont think RBR or Webber want the win given to him....but Webber really needs to show the pace he has shown in past years at Suzuka this weekend as he has a quick team mate and its critical he beats him this weekend.

Playing with the numbers, if Webber bags a win in the next 4 races it really only means he needs 3 3rds to sew it up provided Sebv doesnt win the other 3.

So, if there are any side by side action, is it going to be another bash-clash lottery dip to see who still has a drivable car? I suspect Vettel will ptu Webber to the sword thinking Webber will protect his points lead and take 18 points...will Mark let him push him around?????

Shaun...how many GPs has Webz bagged this year???? :) He obviously can get it off the line just fine. He has one terrible start in Valencia, an ordinary start in Monza. Dont think you can blame a car problem on Webz for what happened at Spa....he will get it off the line...the questio will be is he racing Vettel to turn 1 from pole of P2 on the grid ? :D

    • Power steering is probably because someone has nuked the HICAS CU and you no longer have the variable power asist doing what it is supposed to. How much boost are you running? You are aware that any more than 10 psi on the stock ECU is just asking for it to go to full R&R (that's Rich & Retard, which is effectively Retarded and Retarded!) which kills all the power. Depending on the exact conditions, it can just be runnign on the fat and stupid end of the maps, then the conditions change, you make a little more boost and the ECU goes into panic.
    • @BuiltNotBought Just as GTSboy said.   If you want driveabilty and more low down torque..keep the stock runners. They are VERY good from a factory. I have them too on my RB25DET NEO and as a GTSboy i have fmic but with stock piping route(i have Blitz intercooler) Iam making around 320 BHP and the car pulls "hard" from like 2,5k all the way to 7k. I have it dyno tuned to mimic N/A power curve and making little less max torque due to the smallbox tranny. But driveability is very great. I had 350Nm below 3k so car feels very quick.
    • Looking to sort out a couple of issues on my skyline  It recently was rebuilt, however rebuilder long story short did not give two flying effs about the work he did. So moving forward it's running but I have two persistent issues 1) it has a misfire / lag type of issue (was at higher RPMs but I had a dead piggy back ecu removed which improved it) now it's not as bad but still does it at random, I thought it may have been a boost issue I'm running an older turbosmart dual stage controller, turbosmart told me to try running off gate pressure however it still has a lag at random times. It has New MAF, maf plug, coil packs, sparks, CP harness.. injectors tested and cleaned. Factory ECU. 2) Power steering issue. It is tight as anything. Flushed power steering, rebuilt my pump because the bearing was shot. Flushed again still tight (mainly when parking and going slow into my driveway etc)  No kinks in hard lines, replaced the lines I could see had cracks. Still tough to steer.  I was told to shim a coin and place into the solenoid plug? Is there anything else. My steering angle sensor also has a issue. It's a used one I replaced, does it need to be calibrated? I feel like I've tried everything and this car is my voodoo doll.
    • Holy shit... wow!!! I totally missed this
    • One main filter. Each tank has a prefilter to keep rocks and small children out, then the big main filter that also does water separation. Clogged the first one so bad it was like a rev limiter at 3200rpm. Literally just like dropping the throttle off and maintaining rpm!
