Spotted SXYGST twice this morning - Then my boy called me at work and spotted him too. Clean Silver 33 came through the Jerra Pub carpark at 4ish.

Now what was I doing there. Drowning my sorrows thats what. The !@#$%^&*(*) at Dickson knocked me back for the third time. The stock front pipe is 5mm too Low. Jelous is all i can put it down to.

Back at 9:30 2moro for another go. A hydraulic jack and 50 PSI in the tyres ought to give me a pass mark from the !@#$%^&*(() (**&&%$#@ )(*(*&%!

was dave there? he's a pretty young guy, and was absolutely fantastic and a few other young guys there were good too, if there are old guys there you could be in trouble, but the young guys were really good with me!

i know one guy who gave the guys at the pits a lot of trouble, being a smart ass talking down to them etc... so they drilled him for everything they could find. a big part of it is respect, if you treat them well they will do the same(in general)

i dont know if nick and ewan will remember but when i was going through getting my car over the pits a while ago, i put a big post up on another local forum saying that my dad was taking the car in and saying it was his etc...and i was saying how clever i was and how dumb they were, turns out one of the guys brothers was a member of the forums and told them all about it, the guys at the pits thought it was hilarious and gave me soooo much sh*t about it, and that they do read forums etc....anyway they all laughed about it, were very kind with checking the car and wished me well.

Guys keep in mind that some of the people from the pits -DO- read these forums (was talking to them about it when i went over) and some comments might make them pick on you some more :D

No I was good, honest. I took the rejection on the chin. No smartarse remarks and was very sensible and polite, all three times now.

The gents who selected the defects and knocked it back were the senior ones and one was the boss (Roy). My cars very very tidy and alot safer than most new cars. 5mm too low with two big fellas siting in the front. She passed QLD RTA in October of this year as it was. The front pipe is dead stock and so is the Zorst Jayce lent me.

I no complain, maybe a little, but it appeard to me to be overzelous and I sincerely beleive it's because its an import or they have been asked to go hard on our cars.

Child restraint clips "actually" fitted. Not just the threaded holes like your Brand new this years model anything which just has the Plugs in em. Now come on!

dang i thought i had it hard when they nocked me back for not knowing the weight of my car :) at least that only took me 20 minutes to fix up but yea they seem to pick up on some stupid things though which i am sure 95% of others would let slide. oh well they can afford to be tight arses we dont have a choice in who we take our cars to.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
