Congrats on being decisive!

The value of a good R34 GT-R ain't dropping much either!

have you got your own place?

if not, buy a house and play cars later

if you have a place then go for the GTR

the GTR is more appealing, bad ass on the street and plenty cheap to go around

my pref would be with the GTR. evo has some advantages though, 4 doors and a boot is great

no i mean, as in, if you only have 1 car and you need to move shit around etc

the skyline is hopeless as you have 2 doors and a boot thats useless

the evo has 2 more doors and a bigger boot

so its handy if you have only 1 car and occasionnally want to move stuff around

Stock EVO's are boring ;)

They stop to like 140awkw or something in the top end, designed to do it which makes them feel flat.

At least you've made your choice - i'd still argue any day $$ for $$ the EVO is a better car for mild mods, but each to their own :O

I'm fortunate to drive all types of imports when they come into the country. Most of them are Evo 7's and 8's. 95% of them are almost stock but once in a while nice example would come through that has mods to do around 200kw. It's those times that I have a really good drive around the "block" with them. :P

Nope, the beauty of a 2 door is......bigger doors.... meaning you can fit more stuff through the doors...i have moved more shit in my 33...including full kenwood home stereo and cabinet , 1mtre tall cabinet and speakers...i even fit a coffeee table on the front seat..seat laid back....neither of which would have fit through sedan doors... :P

both great cars, but fo me it has to come down to the way it'll be modded...

i'm selling up the 33 at some point, and going for a 33r... i did think about an evo... but i just like the GTR better, it does well enough in the tight corners as compared to the evo, but i just can not live without that massive top end pull when you hit a straight, that keeps going right up until anchor time.

plus in an R i can push out a comfy 350odd rwkw and not have to worry about cops and epa's too much...

(that obviously doesn't include defects for wheels hanging out of the guards etc lol)

not looking at doing much to any power mods really. plenty of high powered GTRs out there and im not interested in porung a heap of money to make it stupid quick. as posted most ill do is exhaust and suspension mods, rims and make it look as tough as Aarons Vspec. and having already owned a quickish GTT (to me) im not really looking for another high powered car. just something that is perfect out of the factory box and to me the GTR is exactly that. sure it wills till get cop attention but atleast 98% of it will be legal.

not saying the evo will be any different but ye i <3 GTR

You will love the GT-R.

I had a white R34 GTR with black TE37's,

tein coilovers, cat back. It was a beautiful car to look at and drive on the street.

stupidly low though! I thought i needed a 4dr so i bought an evo IX, flash tuned it,

bought a spare set of rims/semis. So i have experience with both

Nismoid is right when he says the Evo is a better track car dollar for dollar spent.

Not taking anything away from Mark Berrys amazing car though. The Evo is also alot cheaper to track than a gtr.

My GTR used to get hot very quickly, the evo on the other hand could do countless laps in qld heat.

The tyres give up before the Evo raises a sweat.

The GTR's with massive power are more fun to drive on a track than the Evo, but you need to spend the purchase price

again on mods to make them that fun. Also i have yet to see an Evo blow up on the circuit [not saying it doesnt happen]

but i have lost count of the amount of RB26's grenading themselves. That was my one concern with the 34, i always worried about it shitting

itself, the Evo i have alot more confidence in with regard to reliability.

The head should say Evo, the heart will always say GT-R!

Looks like you have gone with the Heart!

You wont regret it, but be sure to give way on the track to everyone that used their head!

seriously. if you cant live with a skyline of any sort as a daily, buy a blouse and fag about in a daewoo....

gtr or evo...do you have a brother? pick one and make sure he buys the other. simple...

Your signature says otherwise.

So get the Evo and go slower on the track?

I thought that might come up.

One is flash tuned with semi's [Evo]

The other one has Alcons, Nismo 1.5 way Diff, T04z, OS giken gearset, Ohlins coilovers,

fully forged bottom end etc. The car was putting out around 330 awkw low boost on that day with a crack in an intercooler hose and a very bad alignment. We will be using all 420awkw on the 11th of feb though and should see those times tumble!

The above 32 Gtr will decimate the almost stock Evo when its running more boost and a decent alignment, however

the cost of mods on that car alone is far more than the purchase price of an Evo IX or R34 GTR.

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
