Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up about the blitz coming up. On my way to work this morning cruising along within the speed limits I passed a police car going in the oposite direction. Then they do the old U-turn and follow me before pulling me over, it was about 1-30am and its not the first time this has happened. Although it never happened when I was driving the Falcon to work funny enough! So I get the usual RBT and licence check, all ok. Then I get a warning that my exhaust might be a little low, due to my age (31) and work uniform I guess he let it slide. But he did leave me with a warning that they are about to have a blitz on "high performance" cars and I can expect to be pulled over again and checked for defects etc. Basicly told me that I should get all mods engineered. He said they wer'nt really after "car enthusiasts" but more after people that were likely to wrap it around a tree. This is by no means a shot at the police, although its annoying getting pulled over just for driving a Skyline. (I had'nt be pulled over for 10years+ before the Skyline, now twice in 6months in the Skyline) Its just a warning that due to some of the horrific crashes lately it looks like we all have to suffer and just to be prepared for this blitz.

Understood.

I'll leave my sarcasm for another time perhaps.

But...

I do wish the police would spend more time & energy on drug dealers and illegal alcohol sales.

More young lives are destroyed this way than on our roads.

I'd like to see the police adopt a 'we' attitude rather than a 'them Vs us' attitude, by complimenting good driver behaviour.

If the Police Commisioner & Police Minister wish to reduce deaths on the roads, driver education coupled with $$$$$ on adverts by younger superV8 drivers would have more impact.

Young drivers in many ways are to be applauded for spending $$ on their cars rather than drugs.

Terry for Premier!!

Well put as always. Lets not forget the thieves as well.

Thanks for the heads up

What part of Sydney was this?

I guess its going to get a little crazy on the weekend, lucky i'll be at AC/DC hitting up a few beers

Yeah it was Northern suburbs, cant wait for ACDC either!

Licencing police deal with illegal alcohol sales

Drug squads deal with drug dealers

Get my drift?

I personally would like to see a ban on 24 hour trading for clubs and pubs and the legal drinking age raised from 18 to 21. But each to their own...

omg, why are people so stupid?

Originally we had this awesome thing of "Survival of the fittest" and evolution.

Unfortunately, some gumbyment decided we had to make laws to protect people, and with the introduction of good health care, the f**king morons are allowed to breed.

Add to the fact it's illegal to kill, and all they want to do is breed, they're like wildfire... Out of control and taking over...

Firstly, the Police do focus hugely on drug dealers and the use of drugs. They have a lot of squads to deal with said issues, they have squads that specialize in car theft also. I wouldn't say they focus on the road toll more than drug users. The police force is extremely political at times... some young people have died recently in some horrific crashes, so it's just a knee jerk reaction basically. And really... in the end, it's not that hard to get your car engineered or keep it legal.

# Don't have big f**k off wheels

# 10cm off the ground, is this really that hard? I hate my car lower than this height anyway

# POD in enclosed box

# bov plumbed back

Don't be a smartarse and you won't get done for shit like 'no H sticker' for the gear nob or seatbelt retracting slow etc haha.

Anyone else think this is bullshit and some cops just say this from time to time?

Wether there is a blitz or not, the desired effect has been reached to god knows how many people on this forum...

I wouldn't be against the idea if I was a cop...

You're not supposed to tell people there's a blitz on. (As a Cop) Fact. Do do they still do it? Yes. But they mostly only tell family or friends etc. Not some randy with an import who you pulled over and didn't even defect... but hey maybe that copper owns an import himself and doesn't want to see this guy get into trouble. Who knows =\

But Terry, don't you know that all cars that have been hotted up somewhat have been done so with illegal drug money? Der!!! Ask any cop. They'll tell you it's true! :D

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
