that's called the "boser" look. you can actually buy a piece of preformed metal that lines up with the factory bonnet, weld it on and repaint it, and you end up with a factory looking bonnet in all metal like it was meant to be there.

headlights are made by Hella, who make the factory headlights, so they fit 100% as well, cos they might as well be genuine.

euro modification market is centuries ahead of japanese fibreglass shit.

lol almost feel like doing a boser R32 skyline using a GTS bonnet

Yeah right.

Definatley worth doing.

R32 has already a bit of mean look in the head lights, just need the GTR bonnet conversion.

hmmm Boser ay...what's that worth?

boser pressed metal hood extension is about $500 including shipping from the US/europe (doubt anyone locally stocks it). hella headlights are about $300 new?

you can buy full hoods in fibreglass that have the boser look, but they suck at lining up with headlights etc from what I've seen. best bet is to go all metal and custom weld it to get that mm accurate lines.

roll guards, repaint hood, 18" wheels, coilovers and you're good to go. MK4 golf is about 9K-ish secondhand. so all up for 13k I'd end up with a badass daily that costs next to nothing to run. Gonna wait for the new Mercedes B Class to come in, means more yuppies will trade up and golf prices will go down.

the way I see it 5.7L V8 that runs on dinosaur fossil smoothies while ripping holes in ozones as it drives along has to be offset by something cheap to run every day.

Meh a golf will always be a girls car in my books

yeah cos a 2.0L diesel's a high performance car n all. i love your book, especially the chapters on homo paint jobs, fail suspension and fail fitment. lol glad the new edition of the book at least has epic power.

Liking the sound of it....Keep me posted of any progress, could be interested in doing the same in the future...

and lol.

Lol, i dont have fail fitment, i just dont have wanker look at me my tyres that are so stretched that i cant even drive it safely but hey it looks "hellaflush" and my mates will wanna give me a blow job. Suspension also give me good grip on acceleration because it is standard. Wanna see your hard ass breaking springs and shocks you have on your car even handle 280rwkw without spinning all the way though all your gears

lol see my r32 actually runs 255's with no stretch on factory GTR rims, my spring rates are 12kg and 10kg front n back with matched shocks (no coilovers), which gets rid of some of the nasty arse squat and lateral sway. then there's the underbody bracing, the welded in square tubing, the passenger foot well cross brace and the strut braces, which should improve the rigidity, factor in the adjustable upper and lower control arms, castor and toe arms which let me dial in just the right alignment for max grip... and I'd dare say my car would handle a LOT better than yours, even with the AWD bits weighing it down up front.

I don't need to handle 280rwkw, i just enjoy feeling like i'm driving on rails with 200awkw.

My shit slow ceffy on the other hand, scrapes rails on manhole covers and cat's eyes and runs moderate stretch (225's on 10" is nothing revolutionary, and its still within the specifications of the manufacturer)... will I ever race it or dyno it? don't hold your breath.

i hate greens to. but it was either vote labour (no chance) liberal (a ex cop carrying on about hoons been out of control and getting tough on them) independent (some indian whose name i couldnt pronounce) or greens..

had no choice

so how does a 280rwkw hovercraft handle?

So a car with 280rwkW's with stock suspension will handle better then a car with 280rwkW's with aftermarket suspension..?

Kris...

that's quite possible.... aftermarket suspension is definitely a generic term

it SHOULDN'T, but that's another story... not everyone mods things preoperly

and in kris's defence, he did say acceleration... not handling :ermm: we all know he's an idiot... but not a total idiot :(

kris, you fail at e-thug penis comparisons... i thought years of experience of givin me shit woulda come through, but alas.

lol OK point conceded. kris, your car out accelerates mine due to suspension. altho i suspect it might have something to do with the extra 80kw and 100kg less... and being sunkist orange.

Ah yes, thats right.

I should have asked,

"So a car with 280rwkW's with stock suspension will accelerate better then a car with 280rwkW's with aftermarket suspension..?"

same thought crossed my mind too.

wastelands pretty active today too...

thats because its a car forum where real women are like dragons virtually mythical let alone when they have a picture revealing flesh visible to the masses suprised further investigation hasnt begun

oh and not to mention theres a twin out there somewhere.....

in kris' absence in this highly rivetting intellectual conversation, I'd suggest he'd reply with something like:

where the f**k do you guys rip shit like this from!?

im gona go do some english homework -_-

f**kin sir thomas more

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
