lol i wouldnt buy a sr20/ca18 deT if my life depended on it let alone a DE

but you happily own cars that have essentially the same engine as a CA18 with two extra cylinders? Keep in mind things like injectors/coilpacks etc all swap over between the two.

What's wrong with SR20DETs? Pretty much the equivalent to my 3S-GTE and I love it :)

cept SR's are alloy, where 3S's are cast iron and didn't have any sort of variable timing other than in the dying years or special BEAMS engines?

CA16?

oops, yeah that.

Lol if Shan approves it must be all sweet. Only downside is auto but it's clean and I don't mind

I'm asking for 1k my way too. Guys keen

FFS, look retard, why do you keep leaving out all the shit details that ruin a car?

It's like sayin you hooked up with this chick that had mad headjob skills on a wild night out in your first post...

Then 5 posts later we find out she was blind in both eyes, sported a gunt, had one boob, and was your mother.

Meh, I've never known a standard condition (not rebuilt) CA that's been reliable.

had a standard CA18DET in my AE86 and in the Sky80. Both ran fine with regular maintenance. Maybe it's the muppets you know who own the cars that can't take care of them? Hell the one that I put in the AE86 had over 200,000k's on it.

Ouch. That would be based on your age and the amount you're wanting to insure the car for. I have 3 cars (total insured value of slightly more) an I pay ~$800 per year less (I'm a couple of years older.)

different with a turbo

The CA18DE is a 1.8 L DOHC 16v (1809 cc) engine produced from 1987 through 1989. It produces 1310 hp (980 kW) @6400 rpm and 1590 N·m (1170 ft·lbf) @5200 rpm.

epic

seriously though

im on my p's this is a nanny state

if i so much as put my toe down if im next to another p plater and theres a cop around, i will get REAMED

so really, the idea of slow car till off p's has finally sunken in.

thanks for the insight ladies and gents

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
