Ah yeah didnt think about that. Once you have a 4" intake, the 3" afm will become a restriction and also annoying changing diameters if you did leave it there.

What options are there to remain with a 3" intake. I know simon you will recommend the 4" intake but think about it from a stealth on the street point of view. Is it possible to get an anti surge housing with a 3" intake on a GT30?

on another set up we did on a mates street car same turbo as mine mounted on stock manifold. used a 4-3inch black silicon reducer and painted black hard pipe to the AFM. cant really tell that its a 4 inch intake on turbo unless you look right at it.

Thats a great idea, do you think it reduced power?

This seems to be a restriction for people trying to use reponsive turbos but still make ~275rwkw.

I dont understand, how is that related to "R33 Gts-t Turbo Recommendation, most responsive for 275rwkw"

Because on the street it will be just as fast as 275kw with his laggier turbo for example, I think you could get 260kw out of it if you used E85 quite easily.

theres no way its a restriction.. you can flow 300 rwkw or even 350 rwkw of air thro 3 inch pipe no worries.. think about intercooler pipes and how they flow large amounts of air under pressure and yet are around the 2.5 inch mark

i have a apexi ax53B70, had it tuned the other day and made 240kw on 18psi with 555cc injectors, pfc, z32, 3" exhaust, fmic. but was told i wont get any more out of it. pretty annoyed as i spent just under 2k on it and was told i would see 250 with ease. although i am very happy with the response :(

how much does a 3071 go for?

do you know which version of the ax53B70 you have? there are two different versions the 320ps one and the 380ps one. You may have the 320ps one which would explain the power?

Ok so after going through this thread it seems the garrett 3071 turbo is the best choice since it can achieve around the 280rwkw mark with the least lag???

Im from perth, would anyone know a rough price for one of these? also does it bolt onto my intake and dump pipe?

I just dont wanna get my stock r33 turbo highflowed only to get bored of it down the track and wished i had'nt skimped out, and bought something a bit more expensive.

No chance in a straight line. Maybe on a really tight track.

The HKS 2835 Pro S is pretty damn responsive.

I think the HKS 2835 Pro S turbo wins the prize of most responsive turbo to make 275rwkw on 98 fuel.

+1

very happy that I went that way

much love for the anti surge housing... i have 4 inch hardpipe straight to Air filter (afm is on other side of pipework) and the spooling sound is insane! greatest sound on earth hahaha

i'm running a 4-3" custom metal pipe off mine and yeh... sounds awesome

use metal, paint black

Yeah Thats what i bought...will hopefully post some results soon...

you will need to modify your intake pipe..as its 3 inch...

for the kit..3k...new

if your lucky you'll get a s/h one for half that ..If your game enough to go s/h turbo route you'll get a good BB jobbie and there is plenty that will make that power...but buyer beware...

EDIT>>Actually just looking may as well get this for the same price...More power just as responsive..

Yeah in a drag race the outright power would definitely win but around the street and tight hills it would be very close.

Seeking an opinion on this one. Like the price! Going for street use and response over max power.

Is that for an RB25? That wont make anywhere near 275rwkw on an RB25.

I think it will be too restrictive and lack any sort of top end. Just use a 0.63 housing on a GT30 turbo and it will be super responsive and wont restrict the top end as much.

yeh i found out after getting it tuned i have the one with the smaller exhuast housing

When doing this do you still have the AFM mounted on the intake side? Or in the cooler piping?

If on the intake do you get any problems with reversion?

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
