hey everyone

i want to do modifications to my 1998 r34 gtt but i still couldnt decide which parts to get for my car, so i need your suggestions and experince if you dont mind.. i want my car to look as stock as possible and i dont want it to be the best GTT in the world but i do want it to make good power like around 230-250 rwkw, and since i’m not a mechanic i’m not sure how to choose the right parts....

ok i will start with the mods i have in the car

full exhaust system 3.5”

i have apexi power fc+ boost control kit

pod filter but i’m thinking about putting back the panel filter ( i need suggestions on that)

i want to get

-front mount intercooler ( i need one that would bolt on straight and uses the original smic pipes, but after researching i realized there is no such a thing as bolt on without modifying the front bar and cutting) ,, the one i have been looking at is http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=339&page=1 (if you know one better than this one and doesnt need any modifying for a GTT please tell me and all suggestions are welcome) would i be able the get the intercooler engineered in NSW?

-high flow the stock turbo ( as i am looking for good response and stock look but cant decide should i get hypergear to do it for me or GCG?)

-injectors, i was thinking about hi flowing the stock injectors instead of buying aftermarket ones to keep the car stock and will be cheaper, but is it going to be reliable and live long??

-fuel pump ( i’m not sure if i need one for the power i’m after?? would the stock pump be good enough?)

i’m not even sure if the mods i want to do are good enough for the power i’m after so if someone thinks that i wont achieve 230-250 rwkw could he tell me what else do i need?and also could he tell me what kind of power will i be able to make with the mods i mentioned?

all help and suggestions are welcome and thank you guys in advanced

Baros B.

if you go the bigger turbo you will more than likely need to change the afm to something like a z32 afm as you may be getting close to maxing out the stock one. with a pfc you can tune just above where it maxes out, but you would be best getting the z32 afm.

good: retain stock fuel system, get highflow, FMIC and clutch shoot for 230rwkw

better: bosch 044, 450cc or bigger injectors, GCG or hypergear highflow, clutch, Z32 afm, FMIC and 250-270rwkw

best: bosch 044, 550cc or bigger injectors, garret 3071, button clutch, Z32 afm, FMIC, 280-290rwkw

Hamish,

FYI S15 injectors won't fit on 34 - Different voltage something along these lines.

R34 RB25 doesn't have wide range of injectors to choose from compared to R33 RB25 going by what I've researched.

thanks for the replies guys really helpful,,

so what about highflowing the injectors, would it be the best way to go?? i'm not looking to get my car to make more than 300kw even in the future,,, also does anyone know about wether it is possible to get an engineer certificate for a FMIC in NSW??

High flow injectors, when I talked to Trent @ Chequered Tuning (great guy), he said it's a hit or miss.

Better to buy Nismo or Blitz injectors.

As for intercooler, just get turn-flow unit (piping that plumbs to standard piping) is the way to go and don't bother getting it engineered, Mr Plod and their friends may ignore them (that is the case in Victoria - I don't know NSW though).

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Grant

I recently got a similar response from Trent re: Highflow injectors. Creatd do them for $85 an injector. (Recommended by Trent) Again, the vibe I got was they can be hit or miss. I don't know if the ones from Creatd are hit or miss, mind you. :P

Failing that, are there any other injectors that look stock to the ones in a RB25DET Neo?

Nope, but you can paint them to make them look stock?

Or man up and run them and if Mr Plod pull you over, try get his attention away from the injectors by asking retarded questions.

*DISCLAIMER* I take no responiblity should these above methods if they work or not. (never tried these as I've never been pulled over before)

The only visual difference between aftermarket injectors and stock injectors is the end of them usually being a colour. However once they are installed you can barely notice it. Anyway if you are that worried about some one noticing them, just paint the ends of them black.

i guess everyone agrees that highflowing the injectors is risky and i'm better off with an aftermarket injectors, from my research i found out that probably the nismo injectors are the best choice because they dont require any modification to the fuel rails or anything else and ( can someone correct me if i'm wrong please),,,

i think for now i will keep the stock fuel system to achieve the 230kw i'm after, then maybe in the future i'll upgrade the fuel system when i feel that i need more power

thanks everyone for your help really appreciate it

dont get the cooling pro cooler. they r shit seriously.

if u really want the return flow cooler get a blitz one or speak to thuy from j imports he has 2 arc return flow coolers in stock.

other than that

fuel pump

gt30 based turbo (something u can still hide under the heat shield)

injectors

upgrade ur coilpacks

z32

its funny how u say u wanna keep it stock looking but u have a 3.5 inch exhaust on it.

-why are you saying that the cooling pro cooler is shit? i mean are they still shit for the kind of power i want to make which is 230rwkw?? (i’m not looking to make so much more power than that anytime in the next 2.5 years)

-for the turbo, i wanted to get highflowed because i dont want to spend so much money on a new turbo + there is a chance it could get defected + the same reason as the above i dont want to make too much power )

-when i was researching for fuel pumps i didnt know whats the difference between internal and external fuel pumps. what kind do i need to get for a GTT?

btw i should’ve clarified what i mean by stock looking earlier, i meant stock looking in the engine bay as much as possible.

again thank you all for your help, i really really appreciate every reply

Also invest in fuel pump - you don't really know when standard ones will fail, get Nismo which is drop in - no fiddling needed.

When you get a fuel pump is a FPR needed? I'm a little unsure when your actually meant to get a FPR when you get bigger injectors?

for the fuel pump, just go an internal unit such as a bosche 040 or a nismo.

for the intercooler, you really want to get the best one that you can afford. some of the cheap ones are ok, but others of the same brand can be crap. there just isn't the quality control of the better stuff.

you don't really need a FPR. just use the stock one

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
