Jamezilla
No. No. No. You cannot simply weld a car together from 2-halves. Especially not a high performance car. Mines - this is not like a Lego set. It won't magically 'click' back together again. The car is a wreck. There is nothing that can be done. Sell the good bits (an RB26 is worth about $5k), scrap the rest. Merli
Please don't try and repair your car.... In all seriousness, that's really quite dangerous... You can't weld two halves of a chassis together and hope it holds. If you feel bad now, imagine how you'd feel if you find out the person you sold your car to died because the GTR snapped in half going 110km/h along the freeway? Roy
If your going to go down tat path, look into re-engineered bodies (cant recall if thats what its called) Basically if you have had an accident then you are allowed to put your running gear into another shell, plenty of club racer ppl do it when they damage say their Golf/Escort shell in a hill climb etc etc. Start ringing importers and see if they have any Race/Rally R33s or GTRs that have been imported for wrecking. As others will no doubt tell you, a cut and shut job isnt the way to go unless you tell the cars new owner about the cars history. How would you feel if you bought a car only to find out its past when the thing had a handling, tyre wear imbalance etc etc. Perhaps someone out there wants to build a 9second GTR Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/32318-rear-end-half-cut-for-r33-gtr/#findComment-648101 Share on other sites

Plenty of half cuts people don't know of - yeh, and this makes it right? What happens if someone has an accident - their car will fall to pieces and kill them and their passengers because it's been dogily re-welded together. It's illegal as far as I know to "cut and shut" a car like you're thinking. Don't even bother trying to repair it. Sell what's left of your car in parts or as a wreck. Jamezilla
Well... maybe the photos look over dramatic. A good cut and polish, she'll be like new... Really. Mines - at the end of the day, what you do to your car is your business... but take any discussion of 'repairing to sell' that vehicle off this forum. It is: 1: Illegal, 2: Dangerous, 3: Expensive. No-one here will condone that type of activity. You can easily buy a front-cut, but that is to use for part (engine, loom etc), not to weld onto the back of another car. Please - for the sake of humanity - sell the parts. Stop any thoughts you have about repairing it. You'll actually be better off (financially) by selling the parts. If you do come to your senses and 'wreck' the car for bits - I'm serious about your boot-trim bits... but need to see them first. This is all I will say on this topic. predator
Attempting to repair that car is insanity. Get it out of your mind right away, its gone, dead, kaput, fakarch. Sell it for parts and you may get $15k all up, and thank yourself lucky you may get that much. usuckpoo
As mentioned in your other thread. You could look into buying a bareshell and swapping all the bits over. But then again why do u still want to drive a gtr? ylwgtr2
Hmmm this is an interesting post.....i am sure that all you guys are aware that cars are not made up of billet material!!;)Anyway i get your points on unsafe repair work however....a job like this done PROPERLY is completely safe and legal...i mean take into consideration the new V.I.V scheme that has been put into place...I beleive this scheme is enforced NOT for the safety of the general public but due to the loss,s on the insurance companys behalf(theft ect)They preach its for safety but i beleive not...having said that there is or at least was many dodgy repairs going on which this law may cut out but i have seen dodgy jobs slip through V.I.V due to the owner/repairer having reciepts for parts while the inspector was too busy looking at them and not picking up the shoddy repair......I can also sense a desire from people for not wanting this mines guy back on the road in this type of car...to which i can also understand Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/32318-rear-end-half-cut-for-r33-gtr/#findComment-648157 Share on other sites
