Hey

Lately my oil pressure gauge has been getting pretty low from time to time and other times it will be normal and fine, sometimes it even drops down so low and then goes back to normal during a 1 hour trip.

I have a photo of the pressure gauge at its lowest which was only 2 days ago, and since it hasn't had the issue but it does come and go and im not sure if I should be worried or not, any opinions or suggestions would be helpful.

common problem for the fuel pressure sender/switch to play up, replace that and you should find that your reading will return to what it should be.

its located near the oil filter

ive circled the oil pressure sender in red in the pic below

if that fails then it looks like ur oil pump is quite worn..

Have you checked your oil lately..??

not milky..???

I have this exact same problem with my R34 GTT ... I reckon its a faulty sender unit. I asked Nissan how much for a new one and from memory it was close to $200 yikes :P

but it's been bugging me for so long now I might just try get one from the wreckers just to see if its the actual sender unit (provided I don't get another lemon from the wreckers)

How hard is it to remove/replace one of these sender units through the engine bay ? would be a real pain in the bum hey ? the whole thing that you circled in red has to be unscrewed yes ? would oil leak out when you unscrew it?

Hey

my r34 GT has the same thing, when its cold it sits about 5 ish and when its warm and just idle it will sit around 1 ish but will go up when you start to drive ??

freaked me out as well when i first seen it , so is this anything to worry about ? thanks guyz

That's normal. The hotter the engine is, the more oil will thin out resulting in less oil pressure. So on a cold start oil pressure will be very high. On operating temp it'll probably be around a quater of what the pressure is on cold start.
