Phillips head screwdriver. You just need to get one the right length.

the one in the picture is the old one i replaced and it was pretty tight wouldnt budge at all. But ill give it another go.

Remove the aac?

Its a pretty big job to remove the plenum to be able to get to the acc and remove that.

Besides i think it needs to be adjusted on the car so you can monitor the idle

You can get 90deg screwdrivers from repco/bunnings etc, might make it easier

thanks mate ill give that a go.

on my r33 intake I just simply put a screwdriver in it and turned it, what car/engine are you using ?

Is it a gtr rolls? because im running the rb26.

Guys just on O2 sensors - you don't really need em.

I drove to Syd & back with 340rwkw, 700kms to a tank and that was using no O2 sensors (just stayed off boost).

It's all in the tune for that type of thing (RE: O2/economy) and they certainly aren't required.

I took off my aac yesterday because it originally wasnt plugged in and when connected i was having high idle problems and the screw was stuck aswell.

This is in an r32gtr, there are 4 bolts holding the aac to the main body, all of them are fairly accesible and didnt require the intake plenum to be taken off. I was able to reach the bolts with a 10 or 12mm socket and have enough room to swing the ratchet. Taking off the attached line is a little harder as there's not much room and the clip can be a bitch to get a hold of.

From here i just put the body in a vice and used a phillips head attachment in my cordless drill with a high torque setting to slowly crack it.

In the end i ended up having the screw in most of the way anyway and found out that my pfc idle settings were set pretty high so i had a play with them and seems alot better but still not perfect (when i take my foot off the accelerator it drops down to 12000rpm and then slowly drops to 900rpm or so).

Spray some Wd40 on it first....The rubber seal locks it in there pretty good.... And you wont damage the rubber

Thanks mate I'll give it a go

What settings did you change exactly mate on the PFC?

Under SETTINGS --> REV/IDLE

F/C A/C - : changed to 1100 or so

Idle A/C - : changed to 890 or so

The other options are to do with when you have the air-con on, which i never do anyway so didnt really bother with them.

unplug the IAC if it doesnt drop then pull it off and undo the 4 screws - i had hunting and high idle issues for a very long time and finally decided to pull the thing apart

turns out the tensioner spring inside the valve had broken, replaced it and perfect idle first start.

I'd even argue you will get better economy without the O2 sensor if tuned appropriately as you can tune leaner than stoich.

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
